A gem of a record from the New York scene in the mid 90s – a tight statement by a group who seem to have learned all of the lessons of the Sonic Youth generation, picked up some of the fuzz of Spacemen 3, yet manage to come across with a much more punk-styled quality overall! This is the kind of music that would have been ruined by overproduction on a much bigger label, but gets perfect presentation here, thanks in part to producer Steve Shelley – with a vibe that's still wonderfully crisp after all of these years. Titles include "Mama Cita", "Snippet", "Astro Boy", "I Don't Want U", "Sciuri Sciura", and "Swing Pool". LP, Vinyl record album
BlondeRedhead sound even better here than on their debut – really finding their own voice, especially in the way their stark, simple, yet compelling guitar lines collide with the lead vocals – all somewhat in territory that other groups were exploring at the time, but maybe not with the freshness that set these guys apart from the rest! The set's one that maybe didn't make as big of a splash as it should at the time, but which has become an underground classic over the decades – with titles that include "Young Neil", "10 Feet High", "Jewel", "Bean", "Down Under", "I Am There While You Choke Me", and "UFO". LP, Vinyl record album
