✨✧ Black UhuruBlack Sounds Of Freedom ... LP
Shanachie/Greensleeves, 1977. Very Good+ ... $14.99
The debut LP from the second lineup of Black Uhuru, with Duckie Simpson, Michael Rose and Errol Nelson. Produced by Prince Jammy, this first LP is a tremendous slice of roots rock, even if it doesn't measure up quite so well against the later version of the group with Puma Jones and Sly & Robbie producing. This later Greensleeves edition was remixed by Jammy at Tubby's in 1981, and includes "Eden Out Deh", "I Love King Selassie", "Hard Ground" and a great version of Marley's "Natural Mystic". LP, Vinyl record album
(UK Greensleeves pressing. Cover is a bit wavy from moisture.)

✨✧ Black UhuruGuess Who's Coming To Dinner ... CD
Heartbeat, 1980s. Used ... $6.99
Excellent compilation of some of the earlier material by Black Uhuru, before they were signed to Island, but after the Jammy produced Black Sounds of Freedom set. This is the stuff that really set them at the forefront of the 80s reggae scene, with sharp production by Sly & Robbie, and the Puma Jones, Duckie Simpson & Michael Rose lineup on vocals. Huge singles like "Shine Eye Gal", "General Penitentiary", "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner" and "Abortion" are included, plus "Leaving To Zion", "Natural Reggae Beat" and "Plastic Smile". CD
