A mad bit of music from the great Bo Diddley – recorded after his early 70s funk records on Chess – but with a similar genre-tripping style! The album's got this full-on fuzzy feel right from the start – put together by producer Ron Terry, who matches Diddley's wilder side with some surprising guest appearances from Alvin Lee and Elvin Bishop on guitar, Billy Joel on keyboards, Carmine Appice on drums, and Joe Cocker on vocals! Despite the presence of these rock heavyweights, the set's all Bo Diddley's own – without any of the more watered-down crossover aspects you might expect. There's a nice sharp edge on all numbers – really preserving the funky undercurrents – and titles include "Ride The Water", "Drag On", "Kill My Body", and "Not Fade Away" – plus the super-extended "Bo Diddley Jam", which runs for over 15 minutes, and brings together a host of older Diddley tunes in a funky megamix!
