Features Charlap on piano, Peter Washington on bass, and Kenny Washington on drums – plus guest word from Phil Woods, Frank Wess, Nicholas Payton, and Slide Hampton. CD
Warmly lyrical work from pianist BillCharlap – a set that has him working with superb rhythm accompaniment from Peter Washington on bass and Kenny Washington on drums! Both of the Washingtons have recorded with Charlap before – and together as a trio, the group seems to open up with even more lyrical sensitivity than some of Bill's earlier recordings – kind of that perfect balance that a top-shelf piano trio like this can hit, at a level that both lives up to all the promise of the format, while also putting its own sort of special stamp on the music! That's definitely the case here – as familiar tunes are given a very personal spin, on selections that include "Out Of Nowhere", "What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life", "Street Of Dreams", "The Duke", and "Your Host". CD
A tribute to the great Billy Strayhorn – features BillCharlap and Hank Jones on piano, Joe Lovano on tenor, Rodney Jones and Russell Malone on guitar, Diane Reeves and Elvis Costello on vocals, and others! CD

A late 80s gem from Gerry Mulligan – doing his thing with grace and a sweet groove – a quartet effort filled with Mulligan compositions that range from blue & lonesome to more of an upbeat approach! Mulligan's baritone sax is profoundly in leadership mode here, well out front in the mix, but the players get more than enough room to stretch and breath, with BillCharlap on piano, Richie De Rosa on drums and Dean Johnson on drums. A tender reading of "Splendor In The Grass" works as a centerpiece, splitting up a roster of fine Mulligan pieces including "Rico Apollo", "I Heard The Shadows Dancing", "Curtains", "Good Neighbor Thelonius", "Wallflower", "Etude For Franca" and more.
