✨✧ Jimmy McCracklinMercury Recordings ... CD
Mercury/Bear Family (Germany), Late 50s/Early 60s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
An overlooked chapter in the career of Jimmy McCracklin – some late 50s recordings done for the Mercury label, in the time between his bigger hits on Chess and Imperial! The music here is all totally great – a seminal blend of bluesy roots and newer soul shadings, very much in the early soul territory that Jimmy was helping forge at the time. The set begins with some rougher-edged numbers, but shows a real growth in sound and style as the short years move on – a maturation of McCracklin's style that's strongly helped by efforts from producers Clyde Otis and Shelby Singleton. Titles include "The Wobble", "Georgia Slop", "Hitched", "By Myself", "Doomed Lover", "What's That (parts 1 & 2)", "Folsom Prison Blues", "With Your Love", and "Let's Do It". CD
