Jack FascinatoMusic from A Surplus Store ... LP
Capitol, Late 50s. Near Mint- ... $29.99
A masterpiece mixture of sound effects and loungey orchestration! Wild stuff featuring "found objects" from a surplus store – like saws, whistles, sirens, and other junk – plus the great arrangements of one of Capitol's best bandleaders. (In case you're not familiar with Jack Fascinato, he worked on all of Tennessee Ernie Ford's best records.) The sound is very groovy, and very "pre-industrial". Titles include "An Old Saw", "Latin Hardware", "Adios Castanets", "Oily Boid", and "Sweepy Time". LP, Vinyl record album
(Rainbow label stereo pressing. Cover has light wear and a cutout hole.)

Ill Bill & Stu BangasCannibal Hulk/Hulk Meat/Tales To Astonish ... 7-inch
Uncle Howie, 2019. New Copy (pic cover)... $12.99 14.98
A pair of standout tracks from ll Bill's & Stu Bangas's Cannibal Hulk project – spare, hard hitting hip hop like we don't hear enough of these days and all the more endearing with artwork that pays homage to Marvel's old What If comics! The title track serves as a mission statement as much as a timeless track. "Hulk Meat" features Goretex and starts out with a moody piano before the beats and rhymes drop in and hold strong throughout. "Tales To Astonish" closes it out with guests Blacastan & Spit Gems. 7-inch, Vinyl record

Jay VonsWord (with download) ... LP
La Castanya, 2019. New Copy ... $15.99 18.99
We got the word on The Jay Vons, and it is that this organ soul and raw vintage R&B influenced combo delivers the goods in a big way – with an authentic sound to show for it – recorded at Daptone's House Of Soul! The group's earlier singles had the deep soul and funk base elements of the Daptone sound, but expanded on it with mod and baroque 60s pop and rock touches, and this full length delivers on those promises while still hewing strongly to a tight groove overall. The secret to the taut vibe is probably the excellent core quartet – organ, guitar, bass and drums (and they're organ-forward for sure) – fleshed out nicely in the studio by horns, strings, vibes and more when the groove calls for a bigger sound. Includes "The Word", "Night (Was Stealing From The Sun)", "Changing Seasons", "It Was Wrong To Love You", "Never Take Me Back", "Keep On Moving", "Take It This Far", "Maybe I Loved You", "Did You See Her" and more. Jean GraeEvil Jeanius ... LP
Babygrande, 2008. New Copy (reissue)... $20.99 22.98
Hip hop heroine Jean Grae's team up effort with production duo Blue Sky Black Death – a record that stood out at the time and still stands out today! You know you're in for something special when the first track blends icy synth hop atmosphere and touch of terse touch of VU's "Venus In Furs" behind Jean's tough rhymes – it's a diverse mix of moods and it all works together masterfully – and the energy doesn't waver from there. Other tracks include "Away With Me" "Ahead Of The Game" with Blacastan, "Nobody'll Do It For You", "It's Still A Love Song" and more. LP, Vinyl record album
