Andrzej Korzynski80 ... LP
GAD (Poland), Late 60s/1970s/1980s/1990s. New Copy 2LP Gatefold ... $19.99
A great celebration of the rich career of Polish soundtrack and sound library composer Andrzej Korzynski – a package issued on the 80th birthday of the artist, and which features well-collected tracks from four decades of recording, plus some unreleased material too! Korzynski's been championed in recent years for his unusual, offbeat sounds – and here, those qualities are mixed with groovier elements too – with a vibe that's almost like some of the best work from French soundtrack maestro Francois DeRoubaix – who had a similarly great ear for electronic bits, odd instrumental flourishes, and other compelling elements that really keep things interesting! The package features 30 tracks in all, with a really lively combination of styles and elements – supported by full notes in English and Polish. LP, Vinyl record album

Andrzej KorzynskiPanna Nikt (with bonus tracks) ... CD
GAD (Poland), 1996. New Copy ... $16.99 18.99
A spare, electric soundtrack from Andrzej Korzynski – done for a mid 90s film directed by Andrzej Wada, and featuring lots of keyboards played by Korzynski himself! The music isn't as wild as some of Andrzej's previous records, but there's a nice sense of variety on the tracks – which are usually very spare, sometimes spooky, and often have added keyboards from Jerzy Suchocki! At times, these strange voices come through the mix – maybe dialog from the film, maybe the sound of spirits in the background – amidst titles that include "Balkon", "Chaos", "Samotnosc", "Wies", "Modlitwa", "Dzigi 1", "Pycha I Bogactwo", and "Jaka Jestes Piekna 2". CD features five bonus tracks too! CD

✨✧ Andrzej KorzynskiWielki Uklad (with bonus tracks) ... CD
GAD (Poland), 1976. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
An early moment of genius from Polish film composer Andrzej Korzynski – a cool 70s set that sparkles with all the wonderful sonic touches he can bring to his best work! There's a lot of familiar electronic elements in the mix – guitar, bass, keyboards, and even some moogy electronics – but they're used in styles that are different from more familiar cop/crime of the time, and sometimes with this sci-fi sort of darkness that really makes for a compelling soundtrack all the way through – especially when a warmer number comes into the mix, as on two great Fender Rhodes mellow cuts! Titles include the great Rhodes tracks "Marta 1" and "Marta 2" – plus "Czolowka", "Szosa", "Biuro", "Retropepekcja 1", "Wielki Uklad", and "Winda". CD features the bonus tracks "Fortepian" and "Projekcja". CD

✨✧ Andrzej KorzynskiJanka ... CD
GAD (Poland), 1989. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Some of the warmest work we've ever heard from Polish film composer Andrzej Korzynski – definitely different than his quirkier sounds from early in the decade, and done for a TV show that was set in the Polish countryside in the 30s! There's bits of electronic elements mixed in with fuller strings and woodwinds – and Korzynski demonstrates a great sense of feeling throughout – a bit like some of the French soundtrack composers of the time, and their ability to create really moving, evocative passages in sound – but without some of the more cloying Hollywood styles. A few pieces here appeared in other series as well – and the set features 20 tracks that include "Tajemnice", "Wioska", "Jaskinia", "Zabawy Dzieci", "Mustang", "Cmentarz", and "Duchy". CD

✨✧ Andrzej KorzynskiMowa Ptakow (plus Lektury Uzupelniajce & Kosmos) ... CD
GAD (Poland), 2019. New Copy 2CD ... Out Of Stock
A more recent soundtrack from Polish composer Andrzej Korzynski – put together for a film by the son of his old partner, director Andrzej Zulawski – and in a way that continues their cinematic legacy from previous years! The roots of the music like in older Korzynski recordings, but the songs are transformed a fair bit – often in ways that are very electronic and beat-heavy – with a sci-fi dance sort of vibe, and these tuneful passages that are a bit of a contrast to some of the composer's earlier work. Yet as always with Korzynski, nothing is ever too mainstream or commercial – and in a way, these shorter songs almost seem to answer a more popular idiom with a more personal vision. Titles include "Rower", "Dziewczyna Zla", "Smyzcki", "Opetanie Drugie", "Temat Etniczny II", and "Komputer". CD2 features 12 more bonus tracks – from a few decades of cinematic collaborations between Korzynski and Zulawski – then conclosed with 8 more tracks from the 2015 soundtrack to the film Kosmos. CD

Arp LifeKomplet 1975 to 1978 (3CD set) ... CD
Polskie Nagrania/GAD (Poland), Late 70s. New Copy 3CD ... $24.99 32.99
The complete work of this very groovy Polish combo from the 70s – a duo that features work from the legendary Andrzej Korzynski, best known for his famous film work – stepping out here in a sweet set of moog and keyboard-heavy grooves! Had Arp Life been formed a few years earlier, they would have been turning out moog records – ala Hot Butter – but their style here is groovier, funkier, and filled with some of the growing shift in elements both in fusion, and in soul styles as the disco generation approached! The group are almost a precursor to some of the more spacey, cosmic clubby acts that were showing up in the Italian and Parisian scenes – and although they only issued two rare albums back in the 70s, this huge set features triple that material, thanks to a wealth of unissued radio sessions and other recordings. There are vocals on the tracks at times – but usually just chorus responses to the funky rhythms, riffing guitars, and keyboards – and the set features notes in Polish and English, and a whopping 67 tracks in all!
