The first-ever live release of material from this really fantastic group – a long-haired space rock combo whose leader Lothar was a Moog! The group are a harder-edged psych combo at the core – but spacier touches from Lothar really open up their sound – and although their classic Capitol debut is an undisputed classic, there's a raw edge to this live performance that really expands our understanding of the group – almost more Detroit than we might have expected! Titles include "Machines", "Comic Strip", "What Grows On Your Head", "It Comes On Anyhow", "Today Is Only Yesterday's Tomorrow", and "Sdrawkcab". CD

A heavy groover from Black Ice – an old school harmony act at the core, but working here in a sweet clubby mode for the 70s! The approach is quite similar to the best group soul coming from Philly at the time – with some wicked upbeat numbers that step along beautifully – not Sigma-bred, but with a similar blend of tight rhythms on the bottom, soaring strings on the top, and funky instrumentation in the middle – more than enough to really get the vocal interplay going between the group's five members! Arrangements are by Ray Jackson – and the set also features a few nice mellower numbers to round out the sound – including the great stepper "The Wine Is Bitter (But The Grapes Are Sweet)" – alongside other tracks that include "Shakedown", "Blind Over You", "Touch", "Girl That's What I Call Love", "I Want You Back", and "Making Love In The Rain". LP, Vinyl record album

A massive batch of work from The Softones – a group who cut some great indie singles back in the 70s – often with a sweet harmony sound that rivaled that of their Avco labelmates The Stylistics! Like that group, The Softones had a great way of hitting a fragile ballad – plenty of street corner echoes, but a smoother sound for the 70s too – beautifully brought up to date with some top-shelf production, but in ways that never get in the way of their wonderful vocals. The collection features a host of rare singles by the group – packaged with full details on the original releases, which were arranged by key 70s talents like Patrick Adams, Sammy Lowe, Van McCoy, Horace Ott, and others. The set features a whopping 17 tracks in all – with titles that include "Any Street", "Can't Help Falling In Love", "I'm Gonna Make The Score", "I Played The Fool", "Hey There Lonely Girl", "That Old Black Magic", "Extra Ordinary People", "My Dream", "I'm Gonna Prove It", "Sweet Dreamer", "I'm Gonna Make The Score", and "Laundromat".
