AnimalsAnimals No 2 (10 inch LP) ... LP
EMI/Abkco, Mid 60s. Near Mint- ... $4.99
A very cool early 10" album from The Animals – the group's second in this format, and never originally issued in the US! The group are at their young, gritty best here – with lots of bluesy currents in the music, thanks to Alan Price on Hammond – topped with soulful vocals from the mighty Eric Burdon, who never fails to blow us away. Titles include the great "I'm Mad Again", plus "Bury My Body", "She Said Yeah", and "I'm In Love". LP, Vinyl record album
(Recent reissue, still in the shrink.)

Rolling Stones & OthersRolling Stones Rock & Roll Circus (2CD expanded edition) ... CD
Abkco, 1968. New Copy 2CD ... $15.99 16.98
A great audio documentary of a really mindblowing film – one that captures the Rolling Stones at that key late 60s point when they were stepping into really sinister territory – playing in a very vivid setting, along with some of their key up-and-coming contemporaries on the scene! The whole thing builds up with the energy of a circus – the Stones are last, and there's a growing mix of performers introduced by various members of the band – really presented in a carnivalesque array, before the lead act comes in and knocks it out of the park. The set features a killer early version of "A Quick One While He's Away" by The Who – maybe one of the high points of the set – plus "Song For Jeffrey" by Jethro Tull, "Whole Lotta Yoko" by Yoko Ono & The Dirty Mac (John Lennon), "Ain't That A Lot Of Love" by Taj Mahal, and "Something Better" by Marianne Faithfull. The Rolling Stones round things out with performances of "Sympathy For The Devil", "Parachute Woman", "Jumpin Jack Flash", "Salt Of The Earth", "No Expectations", and "You Can't Always Get What You Want". Plus, this double-length version has unreleased tracks "Warmup Jam" and "Revolution (rehearsal)" by The Dirty Mac, "Leaving Trunk" and "Corinna" by Taj Mahal, and the odd symphonic works "Ritual Fire Dance" and Mozart's "Sonata In C Major" by Julius Katchen. RonettesBest Of The Ronettes ... CD
Phil Spector Records/Abkco, 1960s. Used ... $4.99
A perfect batch of classic and should-be classic girl group soul from The Ronettes – a set made of the prime era Phil Spector recordings – with the legendary, unshakable (for good reason) couple of biggest hits and a whole bunch of lesser-remembered gems that are just as brilliant! "Be My Baby" and "Baby, I Love You" are as iconic as any 60s hits of any stripe, and they come up early in the set – which features 18 tracks in all, most of which are ignored by oldies radio and lesser compilations. The Ronettes at their most essential! Other tracks include "Why Don't They Let Us Fall In Love" and "So Young" (as Veronica), "Do I Love You?", "When I Saw You", "Paradise", "Here I Sit", "You Came, You Saw, You Conquered","Everything Under The Sun" & more. Bob Seger & The Last HeardHeavy Music – The Complete Cameo Recordings 1966 to 1967 ... CD
Cameo/Abkco, Mid 60s. New Copy ... $11.99 12.99
A fantastic early side of work from 70s superstar Bob Seger – and one that comes as quite a surprise, compared to his hits! This early material is really raw, gritty, and definitely shows Bob's roots in the same Detroit scene that was changing the worlds of both soul and rock in the late 60s – often with groups that had an equal emphasis on both sides of the spectrum! In fact, there's a surprisingly strong current of soul that runs through many of these cuts – a romping energy that really matches the freakier, fuzzier touches of the instrumentation – all with results that will have you maybe thinking about Bob in a whole new way. Some of the modes recall the best early Mitch Ryder material, but often with a trippier sort of vibe – and although the tracks came out as singles on the Cameo label in the mid 60s, this is the first full album ever issued of the material. Titles include "Sock It To Me Santa", "Heavy Music (parts 1 & 2)", "Chain Smokin", "Persecution Smith", "Vagrant Winter", "East Side Story", "Very Few", and "Florida Time". CD
Also available Heavy Music – The Complete Cameo Recordings 1966/1967 ... LP 18.99

✨✧ Marianne FaithfullCome & Stay With Me – The UK 45s 1964 to 1969 ... CD
Decca/Abkco, Mid 60s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A wealth of wonderful work from Marianne Faithfull, all pulled from those key early years when she was part of the musical world of Andrew Loog Oldham and the Rolling Stones! Yet right from the start, despite the fact that she sang a few Stones songs on her own (and wrote a few for the group, too) – Marianne was always very much her own singer, and had a way with a song that was quite different than most of the other UK girl pop artists of the time too! Faithfull sometimes has a trill, and always has a sense of darkness on these singles – almost in the territory of the young Nico, but more tuneful and less moody – and superbly set up in just the right sort of arrangements by Mike Leander, David Whitaker, and even the great Jack Nitzsche. CD features all the a and b-sides of these early singles, plus a huge amount of notes – and 22 tracks that include "Morning Sun", "Sister Morphine", "As Tears Go By", "Summer Nights", "The Sha La La Song", "Something Better", "I'd Like To Dial Your Number", "Counting", "That's Right Baby", "Tomorrow's Calling", "This Little Bird", "What Have I Done Wrong", and "Go Away From My World".
