✨✧ Sterling HarrisonOne Size Fits All ... LP
Everland (Austria), 1981. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Early work from Sterling Harrison – a soul singer who was mostly missed the first time around, but has had more of a revival in recent decades – although maybe not as strongly as on this obscure west coast album recorded with the production team of Holland Dozier Holland! This isn't Motown HDH, nor even their Invictus/Hot Wax style – as the album has a strong 80s soul vibe throughout, with lots of beats, keyboards, and catchy numbers in a boogie funk mode – yet it's also clear the top-shelf studio help really gives the record a lot more focus and punch than other efforts of this nature, in a way that mixes Sterling's deep soul vocal inclinations with some material that could have crossed over at the time. Titles include "Star Chaser", "I Feel The Love", "You've Got That Thing", "Take It All The Way", "She's So Sensitive", "One Size Fits All", and "Abba Dabba Do". LP, Vinyl record album

Black SabbathTechnical Ecstasy ... CD
Warner, 1976. Used ... $4.99
The cover here looks a bit slicker than some of the other Black Sabbath albums of the 70s – but the sound is anything but, and still flies the flag of all the greatness the group had to offer! The set was recorded at the famous Criteria Studios in Miami – home to some great soul sessions in the early part of the decade – and Tommy Iommi gives the band a sharp edge in the studio, bringing the guitars up and Ozzy's vocals into a nice sort of focus – reminding the world that Sabbath can still kick the ass of newcomers like AC/DC when needed. And like late 70s material by Led Zeppelin, which some purists of the time tend to dismiss – from the backward perspective of 40 years, the album sounds pretty darn great to our ears! Titles include "She's Gone", "Dirty Women", "It's Alright", "Gypsy", "Back Street Kids", "You Won't Change Me", and "All Moving Parts". CD

Black SabbathBlack Sabbath ... LP
Warner, 1970. Near Mint- Gatefold ... $969.99
Huge, dark, and heavy – an album of mythical proportions, and that's a lot to say for a mainstream album – especially one that crossed over as big as this one! It would be hard to imagine the modern rock landscape without this album or group, who provided the template for so much music to follow – and the soundtrack to many bong-fueled excursions to the dark side – a huge legacy in sound, but one that may well still be best begun on this landmark self-titled album! Titles include "Black Sabbath", "The Wizard", "Behind The Wall Of Sleep", "NIB", "Wicked World", and "Warning". LP, Vinyl record album
(UK swirl label pressing with "Philips Record Product" in the "Stereo" copyright cover, including the lined Vertigo swirl inner sleeve! Cover is lightly bumped at the bottom right corner, looks great otherwise with minimal wear!)

Brownout Presents – Brown SabbathBrown Sabbath 2 ... LP
Ubiquity, 2016. New Copy ... $13.99 19.98
A sweet return to Brown Sabbath territory – that wicked blend of deep funk rhythms and fuzzy guitar, served up by the Brownout collective! The groove has some of the Latin elements that you'd know from Adrian Quesada's other work – but the rising guitar lines dominate a lot more – as do the horns, which crest nicely above the music, to ensure that there's a bit more soul here than on the original Black Sabbath versions of the songs! Yet the vocals by Alex Marrero are also sometimes right in Ozzy territory – which brings things back to base a bit – making for one of the most unusual takes on the music of Black Sabbath you'll ever hope to hear. Titles include "Fairies Wear Boots", "Snowblind", "Supernaut", "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath", "Sweet Leaf", "Electric Funeral", and "Children Of The Grave". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Chad & JeremyOf Cabbages & Kings ... LP
Columbia, 1967. Very Good ... $24.99
A dream of a record from Chad & Jeremy – a fantastic bit of psychedelic pop produced by Gary Usher! The album's got quite a different feel than the rest of the duo's work – as their standard Brit pop style is augmented by lots of extra strings and woodwinds, super-baroque in a beautiful post-Pet Sounds sort of way. The songs are wonderful, too – with themes on the rise and fall of modern life, very much in a Kinks sort of style – with titles like "Busman's Holiday", "Rest In Peace", "Family Way", "Can I See You", and the extended "Progress Suite". Plus, the CD features 6 bonus tracks, a few previously unissued – including "Manners Maketh Man", "Cautionary Tale", "Sister Marie", and "Painted Dayglow Smile". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Jazz SabbathJazz Sabbath ... CD
Black Lake (Netherlands), 2020. New Copy ... $16.99
A really great record, and one that's even better than its gimmick – even though that gimmick is pretty darn great! The group pretends to be a British jazz combo from 1970, and works their way through a host of Black Sabbath tunes from the time – but rather than a straighter reworking of the music, like the recent Brown Sabbath record, this set truly takes off in the best sort of jazz-based sensibility – only using the tunes in a loose way, and bringing us some fantastic jazz performances in the process! The group's led by pianist Milton Keanes, who also produced the record – and the core trio features Jacque T'Fono on bass and Juan Take on drums – wonderful musicians who have a great fluid sensibility together, and who completely transform the music – so much so, you'll find yourself not really caring about the source of the songs, and actually waiting eagerly for the group to start writing their own material. There's guitar guests on a few tracks, plus a bit of guest Hammond and tenor too – on titles that include "Iron Man", "Children Of The Grave", "Changes", "Hand Of Doom", "Rat Salad", "Evil Woman", and "Fairies Wear Boots". Reprise, 1972. New Copy (reissue)... $14.99
A really cool cooker from The Meters – recorded during their post-Josie run for Warner Brothers, but with this tight vibe that still holds all their funky New Orleans roots intact! The sound is a bit more expanded here – not in a commercial way, but just in a style that has the group trying out more things – some interesting rhythms, offbeat guitar passages, and maybe even more of a vocal presence – although it's clearly the drums and basslines that are still driving the whole thing along! Production is by Allen Toussaint and Marshall Sehorn – again in that great style they were hitting at Warner – and titles include "Soul Island", "Flower Song", "Gettin Funkier All the Time", "Do the Dirt", "Cabbage Alley", and "Stay Away" – plus a version of Neil Young's "Birds"! Warner/Soulmusic.com (UK), Late 60s/1970s. New Copy 6 CDs ... $36.99
A massive package of funky music – and maybe one that no home should be without – as the set includes all the classic Josie Records and Warner Brothers albums by legendary New Orleans funk group The Meters – plus a fair bit of bonus tracks too! The Josie albums are incredible – a lean, powerful blend of funky drums, bass, guitar, and organ – almost the New Orleans answer to Booker T & The MGs, but with a sound that's far funkier overall – and which continues to bring new ears to the magic of The Meters as the years go by! Their Warner work is a bit fuller – as the group were part of a big wave of Nola talent to get the nod from LA – which means that The Meters were able to add in vocals, experiment with arrangements, use additional instrumentation – yet all without ever losing that core groove that made them so great! This package is the first time all the records have been brought together, and many are presented here in the "expanded edition" versions with bonus tracks – which makes for a whopping 116 titles on 6CDs – bonus tracks, plus the full albums The Meters, Look Ka Py Py, Struttin, Cabbage Alley, Rejuvenation, Fire On The Bayou, Trick Bag, and New Directions – plus some singles too! Don BlackmanDon Blackman ... CD
Arista/Expansion (UK), 1982. New Copy ... $16.99
A jazz funk masterpiece, and THE record by the legendary Don Blackman – the only one issued under his own name for many many years, and a famous little set that's been sampled endlessly over the years, and for good reason! The vibe here is one that's barely been matched again – a blend of 70s fusion, bassy funk, and even tighter riffing – all put together with a greater depth and sense of soul than most other records of its type. Blackman's a GRP contemporary of Bernard Wright, Tom Browne, and Weldon Irvine – and there's bits of all their sound in the work here, but somehow Don does it even better – hitting these grooves, notes, and lines that seem to fall from the heavens – and which still stand as some of the hippest music of his generation. A record to file proudly next to your copies of Ramp and James Mason – and like those gems, the kind of record that only happens once in an artists career! Titles include "You Ain't Hip", "Yabba Dabba Do", "Heart's Desire", "Deaf Hook Up Connection", "Never Miss A Thing", and "Holding You Loving You", and "Since You Been Away So Long". CD

Fantastically jamming genius from Butcher Brown – a contemporary funk combo, but one with a sound that owes nothing to anyone else! These guys aren't retro, or any kind of jamband offshoot – and instead, they rework vintage instrumentation with a very fresh feel of their own – a groove that's been well-nurtured on previous releases, and which really explodes here – heavy with Fender Rhodes, bass, guitar, and drums – and getting occasional vocals touches from Tennishu, who also blows trumpet and tenor! There's maybe a bit more vocals than before, but they're right on the money, and perfect for the sound – on cuts that include "1992", "Broad Rock", "Cabbage", "#KingButch", "Gum In My Mouth", "Hopscotch", "Tidal Wave", "For The City", "IDK", and "Love Lock". ✨✧ CortexTroupeau Bleu (with bonus poster) ... LP
Trad Vibe (France), 1975. New Copy (reissue)... $28.99
A legendary bit of funky fusion from the French scene of the 70s – the standout set from Cortex, a combo who's very heavy on the keyboards! The tunes have a feel that's quite different than American electric work of the time – funky, but also a bit breezy too – with a strong Brazilian influence in some of the rhythms, and hip use of female vocals alongside the Fender Rhodes – which makes for a double layer of sound that's totally great! There's a bit of alto sax in the instrumentation, but most of the sound comes from the interplay between keyboards, voice, bass, and drums – rolling along in a sound that's stunningly soulful, and which makes the record one of the hippest European dates from the decade. Tremendous all the way through – with tracks that include "Automne", "L'Enfant Samba", "La Rue", "Go Round", "Madbass", "Sabbat", "Mary Et Jeff", and "Chanson D'Un Jour D'Hiver". Dave DouglasDizzy Atmosphere ... CD
Greenleaf, 2020. New Copy ... $14.99 15.99
Dave Douglas works here in a group with two trumpets – Dave Adewumi on the other horn in the lead, but playing with a voice that's deeply distinct from the leader! The group's got that sort of fresh approach that seems to make each different record by Douglas a very different project – and the rest of the lineup includes Matt Stevens on guitar, Fabian Almazan on piano, Carmen Rothwell on bass, and Joey Baron on drums – building things up slowly, but in this way that sometimes has them circling the two trumpets, sometimes coming together more directly. The album's got a subtitle of "Dizzy Gillespie at zero gravity" – and oddly, that's a bit of the feel of the record. Titles include "Con Almazan", "Cadillac", "Manteca", "Mondrian", "We Pray", "Pickin The Cabbage", and "See Me Now". CD

Griot GalaxyKins ... LP
Black & White/Third Man, 1981. New Copy (reissue)... $14.99
An overlooked gem from the Detroit scene of the early 80s – played by a group who came after the generation of Tribe and Strata Records, but who went on to have some really slow-burning influence in their own sort of way! The music definitely has echoes of the loft and spiritual jazz scenes of the 70s – but the quintet also really open things up with some of the more flexible rhythms that were coming out of New York during the same period, and working with a slight touch of more ambitious structures – of the sort you might have heard on overseas labels recording American jazz musicians during the 80s. Reeds are at the core of the set – playec by the trio of Faruq Z Bey on tenor and alto, Anthony Holland on alto and soprano, and David McMurray on tenor, alto, soprano, and flute – given very creative energy by Tani Tabbal on drums, and Jaribu Shahid on both acoustic and electric bass. Titles include "Xy-Moch", "Zycron", "Zenelog Aintro", "Androgeny", "Kins", and "Xy Moch". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Roscoe MitchellBells For The South Side ... CD
ECM (Germany), 2017. Used 2 CDs ... $19.99
A fantastic program of live recordings – all captured at the Museum Of Contemporary Art in Chicago – as part of their 50th Anniversary tribute to the AACM! Roscoe Mitchell works here in a very unusual format – with four different trios, each heard separately – then grouped together in different ways on larger recordings that feature all members in varied formation! The trios feature James Fei on reeds and electronics with William Winant on percussion and vibes; Hugh Ragin on trumpet withTyshawn Sorey on trombone, piano, and percussion; Craig Taborn on piano, organ, and electronics with Kikanju Baku on drums and percussion; and Jribu Shahid on bass and percussion with Tani Tabball on drums and percussion. Mitchell plays a range of reeds and percussion – and some of the percussion used is from the collection of various Art Ensemble Members, being exhibited by the museum. The performances are great – and not only is Mitchell still at the height of his improvisational powers, but he's also got the other musicians working in a spirit that really lives up to the tradition of the AACM! The nine to get ready here are the members of Roscoe's Note Factory nonet – an ensemble that includes George Lewis on trombone, Hugh Ragin on trumpet, Matthew Shipp on piano, William Parker on bass, and Tani Tabbal on drums and percussion. The sound here is spare and textural – very much in the ECM mode, and often surprisingly spare, despite the largeness of the group. Mitchell's on soprano, alto, tenor, and flute – stepping slowly alongside more tightly arranged horn passages for most of the set. Titles include "Leola", "Dream & Response", "Nine To Get Ready", "Move Toward The Light", "Big Red Peaches", and "Bessie Harris". CD

Nino RotaFellini Soundtracks (Early Movies/La Strada/Notti Di Cabiria/La Dolce Vita/8 1/2) (5CD set) ... CD
DOL (Russia), Late 50s/Early 60s. New Copy 5CD ... $12.99
5CDs, and a set of great soundtracks to early films by director Federico Fellini – music that forever set the standard for a new generation of film composers! First up is La Strada – the brilliant mid 50s filled that starred a young Giulettia Masini as one of the saddest clowns ever to grace the silver screen – an amazing performance supported here by key early work from Nino Rota. Rota's score is a mix of circus-like themes and darker moments – all delivered with a dynamic energy that's really wonderful – almost leaping out of the speakers at some points, then sliding into shimmering, watery depths at others. Titles include "Il Pranzo Di Nozze", "Tema Della Strada", "Gelsomina", "Il Bambino Malato", "Zampano Abbandona Gelsomina", and "Addio Del Matto". Next is Le Notti Di Cabiria – aka Nights Of Cabiria – a film of similar vintage, with an equally wonderful score by Rota! The music's a bit more lush this time around – fuller orchestrations at times, but always with that ear for an isolated melody amidst the larger body – that sense of personality that makes Rota's soundtracks so great. Titles include "Picnic Al Divino Amore", "L'Illusionista", "Il Trasloco", "Aspettando Giorgio", and "Le Notti Di Cabiria". La Dolce Vita is one of the all-time classic Italian film scores – a groundbreaking soundtrack from Nino Rota, and one of the first Italian works of this nature to hit the record racks in the US! The music is a beautiful blend of whimsy and sadness – penned by Rota with a variety of light themes that dance together with a dreamy sort of quality – romantic one minute, dramatic the next – always handled with Nino's inventive sense of musical play! A delight throughout – with titles that include "La Doce Vita", "Cadillac", "Via Veneto", "Titoli Di Testa", and "Valzer". 8 1/2 is beautiful work by Nino Rota – filled with the kind of classic themes that distinguished his best work for Fellini. Carlo Savina conducted, and he does an excellent job with Rota's ideas – crafting them into short little packets of sound, woven tightly into little balls that pass back and forth as the mood of the film changes, in a similar mode to the scoring for La Dolce Vita. Titles include "Cadillac", "Cimitero", "Discesa Ai Fanghi", "La Passerella D'Addio", "Concertino Alle Terme", and "E Poi". Last up is a special soundtrack – featuring works from very early films by Fellini – including Il Bidone, I Vitelloni, Un Agenzia Matrimoniale, Lo Sceicco Bianco, and La Grande Seduzione. CD

Those crazy Cramps are at it again – serving up an insane array of rare 45s with a really mad mix of styles – the kind of sounds that you might hear if you fell asleep and woke up in a world of b-movies and 60s exploitation flicks! The styles are hard to peg – you might almost say "The Cramps" – and give enough of a hint – and these are all the real deal – the kind of weird and wonderful 7" singles that were recorded by the thousands back when studios were cheap, pressing plants did heavy business, and every local scene seemed to have some completely creative combos and producers. The package features 42 tracks in all – and titles include "Spunky Onions" by Billy Davis & The Legends, "Tomahawk" by Tom Brown & The Tom Toms, "Mr Custer Stomp" by The Scouts, "Sleeping In A Car" by Tyrone Bracken, "Yabba Dabba Doo" by Frankie Davidson, "Like Spellbound" by Tarantulas, "Kan Gu Wa" by The Scholars, "The Ghost Hop" by Surfmen, "Space Monkey" by Lisa Anders & The Victory Five, "Cerveza" by Boots Brown, "Shot Rod" by Conny & The Bellhops, and "Upturn" by Eddie Smith & The Hornets. VariousWarfaring Strangers – Darkscorch Canticles ... CD
Numero, 1970s. New Copy ... $7.99 20.99
A really tremendous batch of dark-themed tunes from the American underground of the 70s – a treasure trove of under-discovered acts who were all inspired by the deeper brooding of the Led Zep and Black Sabbath generation! Unlike later manifestations from the indie scene, the work here isn't really heavy metal – and instead has this more complex approach – ready and able to spin out their own tales and stories in the space of a full length concept album, guided by their own unique myths and mysteries – even though most of these tracks only ever saw the light of day on 7" singles, as the bands mostly never got the chance to serve up a full-length set. Leave it to Numero to do a perfect job of bringing this underground together through their vivid notes and great images for the set – and no surprise, there's some occasional funky touches on a few of the tunes – especially on the drums. This is the kind of stuff the stoners in your high school wish they were hip enough to know about – and titles include "Warlord" by Wrath, "Twelve O'Clock Satanial" by Air, "Sealed In A Grave" by Triton Warrior, "Dark Days" by Space Rock, "Sweet Child" by Gorgon Medusa, "Cry For The Newborn" by Hellstorm, "Tasmania" by Stoned Mace, and "Seance" by Wizard. Pressure Sounds (UK), 1979. New Copy ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
The first in many great reissues by the fine folks at Pressure Sounds to document the great talent of Prince Far I both behind the mic, or in this case, the board as producer. Originally this set was a limited edition white label pressed up around the time of Cry Tuff Chapter 2, though instead of the rhythm section of the Revolutionaries that were featured on that set, Far I recruited a number of young players, who would go on to form the axis of the Roots Radics band (and later the On-U syndicate of players), to play on these stripped down, hard and heavy drum & bass excursions with Style Scott and Flabba Holt marching in tight, syncopated rhythm union. 10 mighty tracks, including "Bass Ace", "Dub To Africa", "Cry Tuff & The Originals", "Big Fight Dub", "Internal Dub", "Hello Love Brother" and "Out of the Abyss". Deja Vu (Italy), 1980s/1990s. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Modal jazz galore – a collection of rare Italian tunes that move with a loping, soaring sense of energy – often very classic in their sound and style, but mostly pulled from a range of more obscure recent sources! Most of the tracks here were never issued outside of Italy – and even then, only on small labels that never achieved wider distribution – making almost the whole collection a new discovery in jazz to our ears, and one that's filled with countless delights throughout! As you'd guess from the title, the rhythms here are well-paced and lively – soaking up a lot of influences from the Coltrane generation, but also coming across with the tightness of a classic Blue Note or Prestige session. Most groups here are quartets, quintets, or sextets – and the longer than usual tracks offer plenty of room for solos on tenor, trumpet, trombone, and piano. Titles include "Spagna" by Piana Valdambrini Sextet, "Babir" by Alliance, "Proof Of The Pudding" by Michael Cochrane, "Calypso" by Dino & Franco Piana, "Naima" by Antonio Farao, "Tutankhamon Dance" by Nuevo Sestetto Italiano, "Woody" by Flavio Boltro, "Spring" by Antonio Farao, "La Stalla Di Pegaso" by Abbate Nicola Fontana Albano, and "New Born" by Idea 6. Worm Discs (UK), 2020. New Copy ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A great little collection that seeks to put the Bristol scene on the map – and to show the kind of inventive jazz the city's been offering up in recent years! The compilers aim to demonstrate that Bristol has as many newly-creative acts as the sort that have been bubbling up in London on labels like Brownswood – and the range of material here really shows a similar way of blending newer ideas and older execution – especially strong in the rhythm department, and with an effortless mixing of acoustic and electric modes. If you've been digging sounds from Comet Is Coming, Nubya Garcia, and Joe Armon-Jones, this set is a great place to take that interest further – on work that includes "Bergson" and "Jabba" by Waldo's Gift, "3.3 Encke Ups" and "Sea Of Apathy & Indifference" by Run Logan Run, "Flump (Ishamel Ensemble rework)" and "Grook" by Snazzback, "Owl" by Lyrebird, and "Bourdain" by Alun Elliott Williams. Dunham/Daptone, 2016. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Jaw-dropping work from Charles Bradley – a stunning album that's maybe his best so far – and that's saying a hell of a lot, given the quality of his previous work! There's a focus and power here that really puts Charles on top – from the bold statement at the start of the record, to the range of expressive, emotive lyrics all the way through – given superb support in a range of deep soul and funky currents from the likes of Budos Band, Menehan Street Band, Gospel Queens, Saun & Starr, and Sha La Das! Yet none of these guests ever feel like they're sharing the spotlight with Charles – because, like the James Brown Show of the late 60s, all these super-strong talents are working in constellation around Bradley's majesty – a bold soul vision that's never burned this brightly before. Maybe the best work so far from Mr President – one of our favorite projects from the tireless French producer Bruno "Patchworks" Hovart! The set begins with a groove that would be right at home on some late 70s funky jazz playlist – kind of Roy Ayers or Kudu Records – then moves through a range of great cuts that really hold onto a vintage vibe, but with all the best sorts of underground modes that Bruno always brings to his work! Vocals shift from track to track – and include contributions from Hawa, Cindy Pooch, Celia Kameni, and Sabba MG – but the whole thing has a wonderfully unified vibe – warm, soulful, jazzy, and very very groovy. A killer batch of funky organ tracks by the obscure west coast player George Semper! George knocked around the soul scene of the late 60s and early 70s – handling work on a number of great funky 45s – but this is the only album we've ever seen that features him as a leader, and it's a tasty batch of raw organ grooves the bubbles with the best of them! The set's nice and stripped down, with a lean mean sound that makes the record feel like a pile of funky 45s spinning round in a jukebox. George wrote some of the best cuts – especially the ones with tasty drums – and titles include "Hog Maws N Cabbage", "Collard Greens", "Shortnin Bread", "Corn Bread N Chittlins", "Memphis", and a version of "Get Out Of My Life Woman" which begins with a monster breakbeat! Killer early work from Alexis Korner – a British singer and guitarist who's too often lumped into the blues-rock world – but who always has a heck of a lot more to offer than you might think! Korner's kind of a lost figure on these shores – but his work on an album like this is a fantastic mix of British rock, blues roots, and a dose of some of the jazz and soul inspiration that was hitting the mod scene – served up by a group that features some great organ from Ron Edgeworth, and even some early saxophone work from later jazz giants Dick Heckstall Smith and Art Theman! As proof of the jazz orientation, the group takes on versions of Charles Mingus "Haitian Fight Song" and Jimmy Smith's "Back To The Chicken Shack" – amongst other tunes that include "Jones", "Cabbage Greens", "Woke Up This Morning", "Skippin", "It's Happening", "Herbie's Tune", and "Roberta" – the last of which features guest vocals from Herbie Goins. Of all the Prince Far I dub encounters, this one's the most essential – a modern dub classic! A young Adrian Sherwood mans the desk over Far I's driving rhythms with a helping hand from British reggae great Dennis Bovell. Though this doesn't get as way out as some of the spaciest ON-U dubs that we've loved over the years, Sherwood treats the rhythms with a respect they well deserve, while still bringing a fresh outlook to the knob twirling that recasts these mighty rhythms into ghostly soudscapes. The band is a veritable all star Jamaican rhythm section, including Fish Clarke, Sly, Horsemouth & Santa on drums, Flabba Holt on bass, Bingy Bunny & Chinna Smith on guitar, and Sticky Thompson on percussion. 10 cuts, including our faves "Long Life", "The Encounter" & "Abderrahane". Black Saint (Italy), 1981. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A key session as a leader from Roscoe Mitchell – one of his greatest moments on record from this period, and a set that shows a different side of his talents than heard with the Art Ensemble! At one level, the group here are very much concerned with the sound textures and shapes that Mitchell first explored in his early years – and continued to present on solo works. But at another level, there's a more rhythmic feel to some of these numbers as well – that unifying of roots that showed up strongly in the second generation work of the AACM – almost a pan-historic sense of reference, knitted alongside a more spacious approach to improvisation. The group here includes Spencer Barefield on guitar, Jaribu Shahid on bass, Tani Tabbal on percussion, and Hugh Ragin on trumpet – and tittles include "Cut Outs For Quintet", "Jo Jar", and "Variations On A Folk Song Written In the 60s".
