A pair of excellent records from the sometimes-overlooked Barefoot Jerry – back to back on a single CD! First up is Watchin TV With The Radio On – funky southern rock from Barefoot Jerry – a group who've got all the same guitar chops as some of their contemporaries, but who also really know how to kick things up on the drums – which really gives the music a great groove! There's a nice mix of acoustic, electric, and steel guitar work on the album – plus a bit of keyboards and some nicely kicking basslines that also emphasize the funkier currents on the record, especially on some of the instrumentals – all in ways that definitely make Barefoot Jerry one of the most unique groups on their scene! Titles include "Funny Lookin Eyes", "Pig Snoots & Nehi Red", "Hay Queen", "Two Mile Pike", "There Must Be A Better Way", and "Mother Nature's Way Of Saying High". Next up is You Can't Get Off With Your Shoes On – another gem from the group! Barefoot Jerry are one of the great overlooked southern rock groups of the 70s – not as brash and ballsy as some of the arena-filling acts of the period, but equally sharp in terms of their instrumentation – which not only includes great electric guitar lines, but also sweet keyboards, steel guitar, dobro, and even a bit of harmonica! The group know how to groove in a way that sometimes makes them feel like Area Code 615 – and at other times they focus more on tuneful lyrics – trading modes back and forth in ways that make for a mighty rich record overall! Titles include "Ali B
abba", "West Side Of Mississippi", "Slowin Down", "Hero Frodo", "Sinkin In The Sea", "Cades Coves", and "The Measure Of Your Worth".
