The Polish jazz scene of the early 60s was a surprising hotbed of international jazz activity – a bit more secret than, but every bit as creative as the scenes in France, Germany, and Italy at the time! In fact, opportunities in Poland were maybe even more special – as visitors to the scene during its Soviet years were extra-important ambassadors of sound – well-received, and quickly integrated with a Polish scene that was also exploding with new ideas too. Here, you'll hear some great moments that were captured by Polish Radio with excellent sound – performances that include a take on "Mox Nix" by Sweden's Lasse Lystedt Quintet; readings of "Star Eyes", "I Love You", and "An Oscar For Treadwell" by a quartet with Bernt Rosengren on tenor and Jancy Korossy on piano; Korossy heading a trio on "Gypsy In My Soul" and "How High The Moon"; the trio of Swedish pianist Lars Werner on "Nobborna", "Arrival In Poland", and "Spleen" and singer Nora Brockstedt on "Love For Sale".
