By the time of this set, Moroder had already broken the charts with disco productions, and turned out to be a groundbreaking soundtrack artist too – but Scarface has Giorgio finding new ways to bring his electronic ideas into play – working with a variety of singers on some tunes that really echo the mad vibe of the narrative – including "Rush Rush" by Deborah Harry, "Vamos A Bailar" by Maria Conchita, "She's On Fire" by Amy Holland, and "Shake It Up" by Elizabeth Daily. This one plays more like a Roc posse LP than a Jay album, with Memph Bleek and the ever rugged Beanie Siegel prominently featured throughout the album. 16 tracks in all from the height of the "hot" sound, with the breakout Neptunes hit "I Just Wanna Love U (Give It To Me)", "Streets Is Talking", "This Can't Be Life" featuring Scarface, "Parkin Lot Pimpin", "1-900-HUSTLER", and "Squeeze 1st". Mindblowing sounds from the great Bunny Lee – and exactly the kind of collection that makes us love the Pressure Sounds label so much! The track selection is wonderful – and most numbers are balanced in a unique space between reggae and rocksteady, and often have some crucial influences from American soul and funk as well – but they come across with a mode that's very different from more standard reggae, especially the style of the music that would be more codified a few years later. Instead, there's a really rich sense of experimentation here – as Bunny Lee and his All Stars work on instrumental tracks, or alongside other key artists like Delroy Wilson, Rico Rodriguez, Tommy McCook, U Roy, or Winston Williams.
