✨✧ PersuadersThin Line Between Love & Hate/Thigh Spy ... 7-inch
Atco, Early 70s. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
One of the most incredible soul cuts of all time! "Thin Line" has a sound, a style, and approach that we can't even begin to describe – sad, slow, almost falling apart, and one of the most heartbreakingly honest soul songs ever recorded. In fact, the cut's so great, the Persuaders were never able to match it again! "Thigh Spy", as you might guess from the title, is a very different sort of tune – uptempo and grooving, with kind of a silly dancefloor approach. 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Labels have minimal wear.)

✨✧ VariousAtlantic Rhythm & Blues – 1947 to 1974 (8CD box set) ... CD
Atlantic, Late 40s/1950s/1960s/Early 70s. Used 8 CDs ... Out Of Stock
Here it is, the mother of them all! The set's got 8CDs worth of killer soul, funk, and Rhythm & Blues – all culled from the rich history of the Atlantic records label, and lovingly put together with great notes and everything! Although this sort of set usually tends to be a bit simplistic, this box actually features a beautiful mix of tracks, lots of which are hard to get in any format. It's a lot to go through, but it's worth the trip! We can't even begin to list the tracks here, there's 203(!) of them in all, but some of the artists include the Bar Kays, the Beginning of the End, Archie Bell & The Drells, Ruth Brown, Solomon Burke, the Capitols, Clarence Carter, the Chords, the Cookies, Don Covay, King Curtis, Tyrone Davis, the Drifters, Roberta Flack, King Floyd, Aretha Franklin, Major Harris, Donny Hathaway, the Ikettes, Willis Jackson, Nat Kendricks & The Swans, Barabra Lewis, the Mar-keys, Les McCann & Eddie Harris, Stick McGhee, Otis & Carla, the Persuaders, Percy Sledge, The Spinners, Willie Tee, Joe Tex, Chuck Willis, Betty Wright and loads more! CD
(Out of print, and original version, in the LP-sized box, with book – in nice shape!)

✨✧ Piero PiccioniFatevi Vivi La Polizia Non Interverra ... LP
Musica Per Immagini (Italy), 1974. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A great little record, and one that presents maestro Piero Picconi in all his glory – a set that's got some of the spare groovy themes he did so well in the 60s, mixed with funkier moments that are at the level of the best of the crime/cop generation, plus a few dramatic moments thrown into the mix too! There's some really wonderful keyboards on the record – produced with cool effects, and used in that specifically Italian style that's got all these strange sounds that you'd never hear on an American record from the period. The whole thing's great – and titles include "The Persuaders", "Ambushers", "Lovely Mood", "Action", "Persuaders Strike Back", "Pursuit", and "Love Theme". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ VariousBrunswick & Dakar 12" Singles Collection Vol 2 – The Big Throwdown ... CD
Brunswick/Ultra Vybe (Japan), Late 70s/Early 80s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Wonderful work from the later years of Brunswick Records – a time when the company briefly re-emerged as a surprising force on the hipper dancefloors of the time – thanks to a great run of funky club, soulful disco, and seminal boogie tracks! Brunswick didn't issue many albums at the time – and they were quite far from their hit years of the early 70s – but their 12" output from the period is wonderful, and way more than just the usual throwaway work for the discos – done with a real sense of quality, and a devotion to both funk and soul undercurrents that really keep things strong. Volume 2 has tracks that are even more obscure than volume 1 – with titles that include vocal and instrumental versions of "Stay Away From Me" by Satin Dream, vocal and instrumental versions of "The Big Throwdown" by South Bronx, "Never Take Your Love" and "Can't Let Go" by Parris, "I'm So Glad I Got You" and "Another Time Another Place" by Persuaders, and the tracks "Got To Be Free", "Strut Your Stuff", "Waiting For Your Love", and "I Like What You're Doing To Me" by Young & Company. ✨✧ John BarryMore Things Change – Film, TV, & Studio Work 1968 to 1972 ... CD
Ace (UK), Late 60s/Early 70s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Our favorite chapter in the long and storied career of film score legend John Barry – music from a moment when he'd moved past the fame of his earlier James Bond soundtracks, and started hitting territory that was even more mindblowing overall! Barry was already great with Bond, and as those films moved on, he developed this amazing ear for more sophisticated, subtle elements – which unfold here at a level that easily puts the composer/arranger in territory of much more lauded studio and sound library talents! There's still some catchy vocal tunes in the mix – but what's even more striking is Barry's evolved sense of sound and timing – so that familiar instruments can sound all weird and unusual – yet still tuneful too – almost as if he were running over to the European avant garde to borrow a few sonic ideas, then fold them into the groovier numbers included within. The set features some of our favorite John Barry tracks ever, mixed with other more obscure numbers that are equally great – tunes that include "Follow Follow", "The Adventurer", "Highway 101", "The More Things Change", "Theme From The Appointment", "Fun City", "Midnight Cowboy", "Theme From Romance For Guitar & Orchestra", "We Have All The Time In The World", "Afternoon", "Theme From The Persuaders", "Lion In Winter", and "Who Will Buy My Yesterdays".
