Starlog/Varese, 1960s/1982. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
An excellent collection of great soundtrack numbers from British maestro Laurie Johnson! ✨✧ Bill EvansParis Concert – Edition Two ... CD
Blue Note/Elektra, 1979. Used ... $9.99
Sublime late live work from Bill Evans – a well-recorded performance for French radio, and one that really stands out from some of the scratchier late 70s concerts on the market! Bill's working here with a sound as sensitive and picturesque as the cover image – never pushing things too hard, but letting each tune unfold organically in waves of sound few other players could conjure up! Trio musicians include Marc Johnson on bass and Joe LaBarbera on drums – and titles on this second volume include "Nardis", "Laurie", "34 Skidoo", "Letter To Evan", and "Gary's Theme". CD

Bill EvansWe Will Meet Again ... LP
Warner, 1979. Near Mint- ... $24.99
One of the few larger group Bill Evans sessions from the later years – an album that features sax and flute from Larry Schneider and trumpet from Tom Harrell – in addition to core trio instrumentation from Bill on piano, Marc Johnson on bass, and Joe LaBarbera on drums. The added horns really make the session sparkle – and although those players aren't on every number in the record, when they do show up they really help change the sound nicely from overly familiar Evans trio modes. Bill plays a bit of electric piano on the set – especially beautifully on the track "Only Child" – and other titles include "Comrade Conrad", "Peri's Scope", "We Will Meet Again", "Bill's Hit Tune", "Laurie", "Five", and "For All We Know". ✨✧ Bill EvansInner Spirit – The 1979 Concert At The Teatro General San Martin, Buenos Aires ... CD
Resonance, 1979. Used 2CDs ... Out Of Stock
A very late live set from the legendary Bill Evans, and a great one too – a set that captures the pianist in all his spare, subtle glory – working with just the right sort of accompaniment from Marc Johnson on bass and Joe LaBarbera on drums! Both Marc and Joe are players who really helped Evans recapture some of his glory in the final years of his life – and Johnson's sense of soundshaping is especially great here, as he almost seems to wrap around Evans' beautifully sensitive notes on the piano – providing a very different sort of accompaniment than Bill had from bassist Eddie Gomez. Tracks are often nice and long, and have a really special sort of live magic – that sort that makes us feel like we can never get enough of Bill Evans concert recordings. Titles include "Nardis", "Minha", "Up With The Lark", "Letter To Evan", "Turn Out The Stars", "I Do It For Your Love", "MASH", "Laurie", and "Stella By Starlight". CD

✨✧ Bill EvansLive At Keystone Korner 1980 Vol 6 ... CD
Timeless/Ultra Vybe (Japan), 1980. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Fantastic work from piano legend Bill Evans – recorded at the Keystone club in San Francisco just a month before his too-early death – and a batch of material that shows us that Bill still had plenty to offer the world! This isn't the work of a musician on his last legs – and instead, Evans is a master of imagination, phrasing, and timing – working with his superb late trio that features Marc Johnson on bass and Joe Labarbera on drums – and further opening up tunes we've already heard him open up before – leaving us breathless all over again, at that level that makes Bill Evans live material maybe even more important to understanding his genius than his studio material! Titles on this sixth volume include "Laurie", "Emily", "Tiffany", "Knit For Mary F", "Who Can I Turn To", "You & The Night & The Music", "My Foolish Heart", and "Re Person I Knew". CD

✨✧ Bill EvansBrilliant (180 gram green vinyl pressing) ... LP
Timeless/Music On Vinyl (Netherlands), 1980. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A well-titled late album from Bill Evans – live material, recorded at the Keystone Korner, with wonderfully sensitive accompaniment from Marc Johnson on bass and Joe LaBarbera on drums! There's a slightly different vibe to the record than some of Evans' other material from the period – a quality that seems to come from the piano, which is more resonant and "woody" than usual – clearly a different instrument, recorded differently – and in a way that actually seems to have Bill's left hand doing maybe slightly more than usual too. As always with a live Bill Evans recording, the whole thing is revelatory – and titles include "Morning Glory", "Laurie", "Letter To Evan", "Gary's Theme", "Up With The Lark", "Bill's Hit Tune", and "Knit For Mary F". LP, Vinyl record album
