✨✧ Group Therapy37 Minutes Of Group Therapy ... LP
Philips, Late 1960s. Near Mint- Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
A heady set of hard rock greatness, but with some nicely trippy moments too – just the right use of psychedelic elements to create a nice sense of pause amidst the more driving tunes – all recorded beautifully at Sunset Sound in LA! LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has very light wear, and a small cutout hole.)

Sun RaCosmic Tones For Mental Therapy/Art Forms Of Dimensions Tomorrow ... CD
Saturn/Evidence, Early 60s. Used ... $13.99
2 rare Sun Ra Saturn albums back to back on one CD! Cosmic Tones is one of the Ra's greatest albums for Saturn – a record that has him playing clavioline and echoey "cosmic side drums" with a great spacey sound that was probably arrived at through some primitive reverb and echo techniques! The overall effect is everything you'd imagined about Sun Ra – a mixture of hardbop, soul jazz, and some spacey musings that are definitely out of this world! Titles include "Moon Dance", "Voice of Space", and "Adventure Equation". Art Forms features material recorded in New York in 1961, and released on Saturn in 1965 – but whatever the date, it's still light years ahead of its time! Ra plays piano, as usual, but he also works with some beautiful instruments of his own creation – including the strangely wonderful Sun Harp, the Dragon Drum, and the Spiral Percussion Gong. The percussion instruments are heard to great effect on the track "Solar Drums" – which has an echoey percussive sound that's really wonderful! The rest of the group includes John Gilmore, Ronnie Boykins, Pat Patrick, Clifford Thornton, Marshall Allen, and Clifford Jarvis – classic Ra players all of them – and other titles include "Lights On A Satellite", "Kosmos In Blue", and "Cluster Of Galaxies". CD
(Out of print.)

✨✧ RamonesRamones Mania ... CD
Reprise, Late 70s-Mid 80s. Used ... Just Sold Out!
Just when The Ramones were fading into cultural oblivion in the mid 80s – despite being the defining NYC punk band and a group that distilled the previous couple decades of the best and fiercest rock & roll into their own influential blasts – this epic compilation brought about their first and only gold record. Hey ho to Ramones Mania for bringing the boys to the kids of the 80s and cementing their legendary reputation! Includes the best of the early classics and also the most tolerable of their 80s efforts to this point: "I Wanna Be Sedated", "Teenage Labotomy", "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker", "We're A Happy Family", "Bonzo Goes To Bitburg", "Psycho Therapy", "Rock N Roll High School" and many more. ✨✧ Katie LeeLife Is Just A Bed Of Neuroses ... LP
RCA, 1960. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A great little follow-up to Katie Lee's indie hit of the late 50s, Songs Of Couch & Consultation – and like that set, a batch of playful little tunes with psychoanalytic themes at the core! The scoring here, by Ray Martin, is quite similar to some of the other RCA female vocal sides of the late 50s – not entirely jazz, and done with full orchestrations – yet never in a way that's ever too sentimental at all – and in fact, in Martin's hands, surprisingly playful at most points – almost as if Raymond Scott were scoring the tunes! Lee's charm really does a great job of bringing the inner psyche out – and titles include "The Insecure Tango", "Life Is Just A Bed Of Neuroses", "The Ballad Of Group Therapy", and "We Must Adjust". LP, Vinyl record album
(Mono black label pressing with deep groove. Cover has light wear and aging, some price sticker remnants, half split top seam, small split in the bottom seam, and is bent a bit at the corners on the right.)

✨✧ RamonesSubterranean Jungle (violet vinyl pressing) ... LP
Sire, 1983. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A bit of a back to basics set from The Ramones – not exactly the raw punk of their roots, but a nicely stripped-down record that really has them doing the sorts of lean, tight material they always do best! The production is lean, but also has some of those currents that echo the way the group were such an important influence on so many others in the generation – maybe in part because of the way the guitars are recorded, with sort of Sire Records approach to a solo that so many others would pick up and use on records throughout the decade. Drums are tight, but also have a different sort of splash than the decade before – another element that makes for an archetypal 80s sound here – on cuts that include "Little Bit O'Soul", "I Need Your Love", "Outsider", "What'd Ya Do", "Highest Trails Above", "Somebody Like Me", "Psycho Therapy", "Time Has Come Today", "My My Kind Of Girl", "In The Park", "Time Bomb", and "Every Time I Eat Vegetables I Think Of You". PharcydeLabcabincalifornia ... LP
Delicious Vinyl/Craft, 1995. New Copy 2LP Gatefold (reissue)... $32.99 34.99
The second Pharcyde record – and though not as blunted and playful as the first one, it's still nearly as great – with that unrivaled, wholly original, easy west coast vibe! The production is more steady-handed this time around, which alienated fans of Bizarre Ride early on, but it also laid the groundwork for the late 90s Jay Dee groove of keyboards and measured beats! The set also features production by M-Walk and Diamond D. 17 tracks including "Bullsh*t", "Pharcyde", "Groupie Therapy", the classic single "Runnin", "She Said", "Splattitorium", "Drop", "Somethin That Means Somethin", "Hey You", "Devil Music", "Emerald Butterfly", "Heart & Soul", "The Hustle", "The E.N.D." and more.
