So Nice (Pickwick pressing)

LP (Item 9845) Pickwick, Mid 60s — Condition: Used
Out Of Stock

LP, Vinyl record album

5.00 2

Sort of a repackaging of the Brasil '65 album on Capitol – done here in a pressing by Pickwick that features a very psychedelic cover! The record's a mixed bag of tracks that has some bossa piano trio stuff, plus some vocal cuts with Wanda De Sah, the alto and flute of Bud Shank, and the occasional guitar playing of Rosinha De Valenca. The album was recorded in LA by Capitol, and has a bright West Coast 60's feel that brings out the best of Sergio's style. Cuts include "Reza", "One Note Samba", "Berimbau", "So Nice", and "Consolacao". (Cover has light wear, with a bit of pen on the back.)  © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Jobim (aka Maita Pere)
MCA, 1973. Near Mint- Gatefold
An incredibly pure moment of genius from Jobim! Features one of the best versions of "Aqua De Marco" ever, done up in these haunting blue chords, backed by great baroque orchestrations, which descend and trail off, then come sweeping back in. The whole album's just as great, with ... LP, Vinyl record album

Fat Jazz
Jubilee, Late 50s. Near Mint-
Early pre-Blue Note hardbop by Jackie McLean – and one of the few recordings to feature his sextet with Ray Draper! Draper was a real legend in late 50s jazz – a tuba (?) player, believe it or not, with a sound that was dark, brooding, and very modern – very unlike you'd expect ... LP, Vinyl record album

Verve, 1966. Near Mint- Gatefold
Bossa nova meets organ jazz – a real classic from the great Walter Wanderley, recorded right on the heels of his famous Rain Forest album for Verve!
