Disco (Not Disco) – Left Field Disco Classics From The New York Underground (3LP set)
LP (Item 980888) Strut (UK), 2000 — Condition: Near Mint-
Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so.
These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play,
but might detract from the looks.
May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be
intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under
the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record.
(Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
Possible minor surface noise when played.
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
A dozen tracks on this 12th volume of one of the longer running sample track type compilations. Like the others in this series, this one tips you off to who used, in case you couldn't figure it out for yourself. . . Latimore "Let Me Go", Main Ingredient "A Car of Love", Ray ... A sensational sequel to one of the greatest compilations of rare rhythm & blues we've seen from the deep diggin' Jazzman label – one that goes even deeper than the first! A good deal of these juke box treasures are from the mid 50s to early 60s – all of 'em ones that have been ... LP, Vinyl record album
Nice batch of 9 cuts for the funky clubbers, with a mix of soul and jazz cuts that includes "Wings of a Horse" by Ellen McIlwaine, "What's Happening Here" by Natural Four, "Speak No Evil" by Dadisi Komolafe, "Skindo Le Le" by Viva Brazil, "Go For The ... LP, Vinyl record album
The In-Kraut series is at it again – moving and grooving in a hip array of funk and mod styles from the 60s and 70s – most of which are even fuzzier and more upbeat than on previous volumes! The music here is heavy on Hammond, guitar, and romping drums – and a fair bit of tunes ... LP, Vinyl record album
A classic album by this righteous soul collective – and one that shows them taking a strong step away from their work at RCA with Harvey Fuqua. This one has the group (ever-enormous as always!) absorbing some of the other elements of modern soul that were floating around at the time – ... LP, Vinyl record album
Booker T's definitely getting a bit funky with this one – stepping off with the incredible title cut, a tune which really complicates the groove from the earlier years! The sound is still solid Memphis soul, with a raw instrumental vibe – but the grooves are even better than before, ... LP, Vinyl record album
Some of Bobbi Humphrey's greatest work of the post-Blue Note years – an album that's filled with soulful fusion tunes throughout, all with a great focus on her funky flute! Bobbi also sings a bit on the set, but in a way that's pretty darn great – wonderfully sweet at times, with a bit ... LP, Vinyl record album
The Impressions first album for Cotillion, cut after a great 70s run on Curtom – but one that's done with a sound that still carries on the groove nicely! The more righteous tones of the earlier work are shaken loose a bit, to be replaced by a fuller approach to the music built from ... LP, Vinyl record album
Fantastic Isleys from the mid-70s! The record has the group dropping their heavy funk style (which was sounding a bit tired by this point), and picking up a strident soul groove that buoyed their tracks with a spiritual sound that reminds us of some of the best moments from the Brother Brother ...
