La Playa Sextette — Pachanga Cha Cha Cha – Anyone? ... CD 22.99
Pachanga? Cha Cha Cha? We'll take it – especially with results this great! The groove here is different than the usual albums of the mode at the time – as most numbers have a brassy finish over the top, which changes the pachanga instrumentation to a bolder vibe with some nice use of trumpet – a slight variation, but over more conventional rhythms – which makes for a mighty nice blend. The cha cha tracks are nicely different, too – complicated in that newer freedom that some of the smaller Latin combos were finding at the time – really marking a nice shift away from the bigger bands. Tito Rodriguez sings on the record – and titles include "Guajira Dancers", "Me Voy Pa Las Villas", "Baila Mi Gente", "Caimitillo Y Maranon", "El Cha Cha Cha Las Doce", and "Vuela Vuela La Paloma".  © 1996-2022, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Mono blue label pressing.. Cover has a light name on the back, a small bit of seam splitting, and a small piece of tape – but this is a great copy overall.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Bossa Nova
Vee Jay, Early 60s. Sealed
Very nice, very tight little bossa nova set by Eddie Harris from his early days at Vee Jay! The groove is very open, and Eddie's still at the stage where he can really cut the stuff.
