Steel Band Music Of The Caribbean

LP (Item 979164) Olympic, 1980 — Condition: Very Good
...

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Shin Joong Hyun & Yup Juns
Jigu (South Korea), 1974. Near Mint-
A heady set from mid 70s South Korea – the debut album from a mighty edgey little trio! The album's not nearly as psych as some of the other Korean efforts from the period – as the group's got a tight groove on most numbers, with a definite funk influence on the drums and bass – ... Kapp, Mid 60s. Very Good+
A great album – even if Miriam's not in as many voices as promised by the title! (Who do they think she is – Rich Little?) The recording quality appears to be live – as the tracks have an open jamming style, with Miriam singing in that rich, folksy style of her early years, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Still great after all these years – maybe more so, given that the buzz on these guys finally died down – and has kept this one out of heavy rotation in coffee shops and cafes! LP, Vinyl record album

Epic, 1968. Near Mint-
Kind of hard to put a finger on the style of Jho Archer – which is probably why they used the phrase "many talents" in the title of this one! Jho's got a bit of Caribbean in his vocals – traces of calypso and Haitian soul, inflected with a hipper French approach to the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Horace Silver

Cape Verdean Blues
Blue Note, 1965. Near Mint-
A classic set from Horace Silver – one in which his quintet is expanded by some great guest work from trombonist JJ Johnson! Johnson's at the height of his 60s powers here – blowing with that lean, soulful style that always made any record sparkle – and although he's only on half ... LP, Vinyl record album

Blue Note, 1958. Near Mint-
About as classic as you can get for Sonny Rollins during the 50s – from the cover right down to the incredible solos on the set!
