This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap.
We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't
look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time,
we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape —
which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be
torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played,
the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Kwame handles vocals and guitar – and gets great backing from a host of US musicians who include Roland Hanna on piano, Ron Carter on bass, Billy Cobham on drums, Bilal Abdurahman on flute and sax – and lots of percussion from Ray Barretto , Chief Bey, Leo Mensah, and others! Mostly "east" – as the violin of the famous solist comes into play with the sitar of Ravi Shankar, plus tabla and tanpura! The vibe's a bit like some of the best John Mayer albums, although less jazz. LP, Vinyl record album
Nigerian funk & boogie numbers from the late 70s & early 80s – post Afrobeat and post disco material from the prosperous, post dictatorship years – funk, soul and disco infused stormers from Mixed Grill, Bayo Damnazio, The Stormmers, Joe Maks, Segun Robert, Martha Ulaeto, Honey ... Lots of heavy percussion and vocals – in the best yoruba style! Production is nice and raw – almost more ethnographic in approach. LP, Vinyl record album
Not the Caravan group of Brit jazz rock fame, but a later Thai combo – working here in sharp protest of American military action in Southeast Asia during the 70s! The set's got a really unique regional flavor – a folksy blend of acoustic instruments and voices that often has guitar ... LP, Vinyl record album
Great music from the personal archives of Group Doueh – tracks all originally recorded on cassette, but cleaned up nicely and presented in one of those great Sublime Frequencies packages! The first half of the set features shorter numbers by the group – really compelling numbers that ... LP, Vinyl record album
A great little Sonny Stitt album – very different than any of his other sets from the 60s! The album has a number of interesting aspects – from hard-wailing organ by Wilmer Mosby (who we think is Don Patterson under a fake name), to some screaming guest work by Rufus Harley and Robin ...
