cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
A really unique little album from Sergio Mendes and Brasil 77 – one that's in a much more rootsy style than any of his other work! The "primal roots" here are taken seriously, and like some of his other contemporaries in Brazilian music, Sergio's looking back a bit, and towards a ... LP, Vinyl record album
Dreamy loveliness from Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66! The album's one of their true 60s classics for A&M – a sublime blend of female vocals, Brazilian rhythms, and jazzy instrumentation – groovily dancing with a light and breezy sound that influenced a generation, and which still ... LP, Vinyl record album
Dreamy bossa pop from the A&M studios of the 60s – the Brasil 66 sound at its best! The style here is a perfect blend of real Brazilian influences and some of the hipper styles bubbling in the LA studio scene of the time – all locked together perfectly by Sergio Mendes, in the twin- ... An excellent little album that Sergio recorded in the US – with a sweet funky electric sound that's very different than his other work! At some level, the album has a feel that's almost like a hip 70s soundtrack – sporting these great arrangements by Dave Grusin that bring in a lot ... LP, Vinyl record album
Great session cut by Milton in the US, with a feel that's similar to Courage, his other great US/A&M album, done in the late 60s. The sound here's a bit more modern than that one, and the group is graced by some excellent guests, like Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Airto, Raul De Souza, and ... LP, Vinyl record album
A real classic from Sergio Mendes – probably most famous for its funky bits! The record pushes past the formula of the earlier Brasil 66 albums, and goes for a more sophisticated approach that adds in some sweet electric moments, more complicated grooves, and an overall sound that's even ... LP, Vinyl record album
A bit more straightforward, more modern, and more electric than some of Luiz Gonzaga's work of the 70s – but still a darn nice album, performed with an instantly appealing charm, and a spacious sense of soul that allows Luiz many different voices at once. Titles include "Questao De ... LP, Vinyl record album
Although the title and cover point to Chaves as a fairly controversial figure, especially as far as the censors were concerned, the music on this album's actually pretty simple stylistically, mostly to give a focus to the lyrics, which are sung in clear tone that we're guessing was supposed to read ... LP, Vinyl record album
A great later album by Jobim – one that has him working with "the new band", which includes younger talents like Danilo Caymmi on flute and vocals, Sebastiao Neto on bass, Jacques Morelen baum on cello, and Paulo Jobim on guitar and vocals. Jobim's voice is wonderfully aged and ... LP, Vinyl record album
Extremely early work from the great Milton Nascimento – one of his first albums ever, and oddly recorded in America, not Brazil! The set was done in the A&M studios, with production by Creed Taylor – but has a spacious, soulful sound that's a lot like Milton's first few records ... LP, Vinyl record album
A great little album by Elis – recorded for Elektra, but very much in the spirit of her classic work for Philips in the 70s. Like so many of those records, this one features arrangements and keyboards by Cesar Camargo Mariano – and the list of tracks is a stellar blend of work by some ... LP, Vinyl record album
Features guest work from Elis Regina, Gonzaguinha, Clementina De Jesus, Clara Nunes, MPB4, Nosso Samba, and Djavan! Titles include "Fica Mais Um Pouco Amor", "Bom Dia Tristeza", "O Casamento Do Moacir", "Aguenta A Mao Joao", and "Despejo Na Favela". LP, Vinyl record album
