Come Back To Sorrento

LP (Item 970169) Columbia, 1959 — Condition: Near Mint-
...

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Tony Bennett

Who Can I Turn To
Columbia, 1964. Sealed
A 60s classic from Tony Bennett – a record that sported a huge title hit, but which also stands strongly as a really unified album! Lambert, Hendricks & Ross

Hottest New Group In Jazz
Columbia, Late 50s. Very Good+

A great set from Ella Fitzgerald – recorded at Carnegie Hall during a stretch when Fitzgerald was hitting new worldwide fame, and singing a lot of groovy contemporary tunes – but done here in a very old school style that hearkens back to Ella's earliest days in the jazz world! Billie Holiday

Lady In Satin
Columbia, 1958. Near Mint-
One of Billie's last recordings, and an incredibly striking batch of songs arranged by Ray Ellis with a sad, fragile ege that's perfect for the style of her later work. Billie's voice is faltering, but in a way that only makes the songs sound more personal and more compelling – and although ... LP, Vinyl record album

One of Mose Allison's most sophisticated album, and one that has him going way past his usual "folksy jazzy" style, into a realm that touches on Monk-like modernism! Rushing Lullabies
Columbia, Late 50s. Near Mint-
A killer album by Jimmy – and certainly one of his best later records! Philips, 1964. Very Good-

Miriam Klein was an odd German Billie Holiday sound-alike singer – and she recorded this album with a strong lineup that included ex-Holiday player Roy Eldridge, as well as Dexter Gordon and Slide Hampton.
