LP (Item 968797) Decca, 2019 — Condition: Sealed

...

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Face To Face
Decca, 1961. Sealed 2LP Gatefold
... LP, Vinyl record album
Decca (UK), 1971. Very Good+
Very groovy 70s work from Annie Ross – an album that's quite different than her vocalese records of the 50s, but equally great in its own sort of way! Ross is still singing jazz here, but there's often a bit of soul in the mix too – that hip blend of styles that you might find in the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Carmen McRae

Mad About The Man
Decca, 1958. Very Good+
Wonderful early work from Carmen McRae – a set of tunes originally composed by Noel Coward, served up by Carmen with a very hip 50s feel! The orchestrations here are by Jack Pleis, who really gets the mood right for the set – and shakes off some of the floweriness that could sometimes ... LP, Vinyl record album

Jackie Paris

Jackie Paris Sound
East West, 1958. Very Good+
A pretty obscure record by Jackie Paris – a light-voiced jazz singer who cut some key albums in the 50s! The set was very briefly issued by East West, a short-lived Atlantic Records subsidiary – and features Paris singing to some great small group accompaniment from players that ... Annie Ross with Zoot Sims

Gasser!
World Pacific, 1959. Very Good+
Great stuff – one of Annie Ross' rare albums as a solo act away from her trio with Jon Hendricks and Dave Lambert – and a great little session cut with small combo jazz backing, which gives the song a nice swinging edge! Zoot Sims is the main soloist on the tunes, Russ Freeman lays ... LP, Vinyl record album

Matt Dennis

She Dances Overhead
RCA, 1955. Very Good+
Dreamy vocals from Matt Dennis – a set of Rodgers & Hart numbers, performed in a sweetly swaying style that has plenty of warm touches. Unlike some of Matt's smaller combo records, this set's got larger backings from the orchestra of Harry Geller – using some light strings and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Verve, Mid 50s. Very Good+
Rare Verve work from the great Al Hibbler – excellent titles with backing from Johnny Hodges, Count Basie, and Leroy Lovett! LP, Vinyl record album
Wing, Mid 50s. Very Good
One of the first albums ever cut by Jackie Paris – an excellent male singer from the 50s, of the same generation as Mark Murphy and Bobby Troup, but who unfortunately never made a name as big as either of those two.
