Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Verve, 1950s. Used
16 tracks pulled from Billie's classic recordings for Verve in the 50s – and packaged in a nice little cover that links it to the rest of the Diva series! The tracks are a good overview of Billie's later work, and titles include "Billie's Blues", "Don't Explain", "The ... CD
Verve, 1956/1957. Used 2 CDs
Beautiful Billie from the last years of her life. The material was recorded in 1956 and 1957 in Hollywood, featuring Barney Kessel, Ben Wesbster, Harry Edison, and Jimmy Rowles – all grooving nicely in small group formation. The tracks have a wonderfully fragile quality – and although ... CD

Ella & Louis Again
Verve, Late 50s. Used
A set that's maybe even nicer than the Ella & Louis work together on Porgy & Bess – given that backing is by the trio of Oscar Peterson, which gives the whole thing a nicely understated charm – at a level that really lets the charms of the duo shine through! CD

Mose Allison

Hello There Universe
Atlantic/Collectables, 1970. Used
One of Mose's best albums for Atlantic – an ambitious session that features larger arrangements backing him up, making for a much fuller sound than on other records! The album includes a greatly grooving version of "Wild Man On The Loose" – done with this cool sneaky organ ... CD
Verve (Japan), 1963. Used
A later entry in Ella's Songbook series for Verve – but a great one too, thanks to some strong arrangements from Nelson Riddle! Riddle's working here at a level that he brought to his earlier sessions with Frank Sinatra – one that colors in the tunes with just the right amount of ... CD

Dianne Reeves

Little Moonlight
Blue Note, 2003. Used
Dianne Reeves – as lovely as ever, perhaps even more so – as the set's a nicely stripped-down session that really showcases her best side! The tunes are spare and simple small combo numbers – mostly with piano trio backing, but also including a bit of occasional trumpet and ... CD
