What Makes Sammy Run?

LP (Item 963065) Columbia, 1964 — Condition: Sealed

(Sealed 60s mono pressing.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Graduate – Original Soundtrack
Columbia, Late 60s. Very Good+
A tremendous little soundtrack – even if you've seen it a million times! Simon & Garfunkel always had a really dark quality to their music, but it never seemed to show as much on the pop charts as it did when used brilliantly by Mike Nichols in this important film. Not the funkiest Sesame Street record you'll come across, but still pretty darn hip, and one that makes us wonder why children's TV is so darn lame these days. Columbia, Late 60s. Very Good
Barry conducts versions of his famous soundtrack themes from the 60s – as you'd guess from the title – taking them in different directions than on the original recordings, and coming up with some nice moody readings that show the direction he was heading in the late 60s. One of the hipper sides of Broadway during the big hit years, even if it is pretty goofy! The musical features songs and routines based on the work of cartoonist/humorist James Thurber, set to jazz backings by Don Elliott. A fairly orchestral and dramatic score to this film that starred Marlon Brando as a GI in Japan. The opening features Irving Berlin's famous song "Sayonara", and the rest of the album features original compositons by Franz Waxman, plus variations on the "Sayonara Theme". ... LP, Vinyl record album

A wonderful wonderful soundtrack – recorded to accompany the strange horror/soap opera show Dark Shadows!
