✈
❔

(Recent green vinyl pressing.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

After his huge success with The Harder They Come, Cliff made a number of LPs in the states, most self produced, some of which were more succesful than others, and many with a clear nod towards US Soul and R&B, like this one. Jimmy Cliff

Cliff Hanger
Columbia, 1985. Near Mint-
Mid 80s record from the great Jimmy Cliff. While he was in his prime in the early 70s, this much later commercial effort shows he's still got the skills to pay the bills, and we actually kind of like the sound of him singing over the glossy crossover-attempt tracks, which have that great 80s Sly ... Mercury, 1971. Very Good+
One of the great albums of trippy soul that Jerry Butler cut with his Fountain Productions group of players, arrangers, and engineers – a group that borrowed a lot of talent from the Chess/Cadet studios of the late 60s. Jerry produced with Gerald Sims, and the arrangements were handled by ... LP, Vinyl record album

A killer classic from Jimmy Bo Horne – one of the sharpest male singers to work for the TK family of labels in the late 70s – and one who could really summarize all the greatness of Miami soul with a record like this! The album's got all the funky fullness of some of the larger TK ... LP, Vinyl record album

No panic here – just tightly-crafted jazz, and one of the better RCA small combo sessions of the 50's!
