Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Used CD Grade
We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD".
This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer
Used CDs in the best shape possible.
When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the
lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves),
and the booklet to be in good shape.
Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or
defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs —
so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.
All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws.
If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine
that it plays correctly —
and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.
A millennial classic from Erykah Badu – a set that came along right as the current century was starting up, to show a soulful path that would keep things strong for many years to come! The album grabbed a bigger audience than Erykah's first, but still kept things strong – really ... CD
The soulful vocalist of Incognito strikes out on her own – serving up an excellent debut LP! This one's got a bit more of a modern R&B approach than the jazzier work of Incognito – but still stays in the hip London soul mode, thanks to some great production work by Ray Hayden of ... CD
A wonderful little record that's like few other we can think of – the debut of bassist Esperanza Spaulding, a player who also sings along wordlessly with her strings! The style is quite unique, and completely great – and Esperanza's really opened up a whole new territory here with her ... CD
The long-awaited debut from Platinum Pied Pipers – an incredible set that melds underground soul, deep hip hop, and innovative club groove into a cohesive sound all its own! The PPP is essentially the duo of Waajeed (a founding member of Slum Village and frequent Jay Dee collaborator) and ... CD
A wonderful set from UK chanteuse Alice Russell – one of the best records yet to come out on always reliable Tru Thoughts label! Alice's strong soul vocals have added real depth to tracks by Quantic and others, but here she succeeds tenfold as the marquee artist! She has a heavy, resonate ... CD
A great new chapter in the career of Jose James – and a record that really seems to take his already-amazing vocals to a whole new level! In a relatively short career, Jose's already been turning a lot of heads with his work on other projects, his jazz-based recordings, and his debut for ... CD
The long-overdue return of Coultrain – an artist we've been digging right from the start, when he dropped off a pile of handmade CDs as freebies to give away in our store! Since that time, Coultrain has emerged to become one of the freshest talents of the underground – through work ... CD
Great work from the Nu Soul underground! The CD's a self-produced 5 track ep from Chicago multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Peven Everett – and it's got a unique approach that's feels a bit like a "workshop" approach to cutting tracks. There's strands of African influences, ... CD
The fourth album by Mondo Grosso – and maybe their best to date! Unlike some of the earlier records, which noodled around a bit too much (although not that much), this is a totally solid record, with a very united set of tracks, and a heck of a lot more music than you get on some of their ... CD
An overlooked record in the grand scheme – which is unforgivable in our book! This self-titled album Prince's second album, and already his vision is becoming a little more focused, and you can really hear the seeds of his later efforts – a really remarkable, unique, and fascinating ... CD
Later work from New Orleans legend James Booker – but a set that may well be one of his greatest records ever – a real back to basics effort recorded with a hands-off approach that almost makes you feel like you're catching Booker in some small club down off the Quarter! James plays ... CD
