Blue Notes & Hot Rhythm

LP (Item 952103) Harrison, Late 20s/Early 30s — Condition: Near Mint-

Features tracks by Fred Hall's Jazz Band, The Ambassadors, Bert Stock & His Orchestra, Ipana Troubadours, Mild Shaw & His Detroiters & Julie Wintz & His Orchestra  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Johnny Richards Orchestra

Aqui Se Habla Espanol/Spanish Spoken Here
Roulette, Mid 60s. Near Mint-
Nicely swingin' LP put together by the man who supervised some of Stan Kenton's best afro-cuban sessions. Richards is one of the most swinging, hard hitting bandleaders to come out of the post-swing era, and his handling of Latin material is always filled with a lot of fire, and a good sense of ... Jerome Richardson

Groove Merchant
Verve, Late 60s. Near Mint-
A great little album of jazzy tracks from multi-talented reedman Jerome Richardson! The album's got a sort of jazzy meets Now Sound sound – sort of like the Benny Golson or Cal Tjader albums on Verve from the time, and it's a great one if you dig that sort of thing. The tracks are mostly ... LP, Vinyl record album

Soulful Brass
Impulse, 1968. Near Mint- Gatefold
One of the grooviest records that Steve Allen ever cut – thanks largely to some hip arrangements from the mighty Oliver Nelson! Dr. Feelgood
World Pacific, Mid 60s. Near Mint-
Billy Larkin plays soul jazz instrumentals with The Delgates, and the group's joined by singer Ralph Black on a number of cuts. Notations

Notations
Gemigo, 1975. Near Mint-
The one and only album released by this great Chicago vocal group – a sublime harmony outfit who'd recorded some excellent indie 45s before getting the chance to do this one-off set for Curtis Mayfield's Gemigo label! The style of the set is a bit more polished than some of the group's ... LP, Vinyl record album
