One of Serge Gainsbourg's biggest international albums – and kind of an 80s update of his earlier erotic sound! There's something of a clubby vibe to the record – and most of the album was recorded in the US, with a fair bit of synthesizer and guitar, in kind of a colder post-new wave groove. Titles include a few great later classics – his remake of "Harley David, Son Of A Bitch", which really broke Serge to a whole new generation of listeners – plus his classic duet with daughter Charlotte Gainsbourg on the great "Lemon Incest" – one of the best songs ever about the virtues of father/daughter love! Other titles include "Sorry Angel", "I'm The Boy", "Kiss Me Hardy", "No Comment", and "Hmm Hmm Hmm".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

France Gall

1968
Philips (France), 1967. Used
A record as revolutionary as the French year in which it was recorded – an amazing batch of late 60s grooves from Parisian pop madame France Gall! The set's upbeat and jaunty, with plenty of fuzz – almost a psyche pop sound, with lots of groovy guitars that make the album sparkle with ... CD

Serge Gainsbourg/Michel Colombier

Anna (Japanese paper sleeve edition)
Philips (Japan), 1967. Used
A late 60s soundtrack by Serge Gainsbourg – but a record that's easily as great as any of his studio albums from the same time! The bulk of the album has a spare, punctuated groove that's somewhat funky – quite a bit like Melody Nelson in its sense of space and timing – and its ... CD
Universal/Jacques Canetti (France), 1966. Used
The roots of Brigitte Fontaine – and a really wonderful record that we love every bit as her later work – but in a completely different way! The style here is more strikingly jazzy in the territory of early 60s Serge Gainsbourg or Jacques Brel – and the lyrics are mostly all by ... CD

Vogue/RPM (UK), Mid 60s. Used
Wonderfully groovy work from Antoine – one of the hipper French singers of the mid 60s, and an artist who mixed headier sounds with some of the upbeat French pop modes of the time! The rhythms and instrumentation are often in the best jaunty mode we love from Parisian record of the period ... CD

Benjamin Biolay

Naive (France), 2013. Used Gatefold
Beautiful work from Benjamin Biolay – easily one of our favorite French artists of the 21st Century – even though we've been following his work since the previous one! Benjamin's got a sound that's just perfect if you, like us, dig an older generation of French work by artists like ... CD

Brigitte Fontaine

Brigitte Fontaine (1972)
Saravah (France), 1972. Used
A fantastic album by this enigmatic French singer – one of her first truly experimental albums! The record differs from some of her other albums quite a bit – and has a very strange mix of styles that go from straight ahead (only a track or two), to wildly experimental – very ... CD

Saravah (France), 1972/2000. Used
A very cool compilation of tracks, seemingly recorded in the early 70s – but issued here in package designed to pay tribute to the 33-year history of the legendary Saravah label! Pierre Barouh, the founder of Saravah, is at the head of the party-like festivities, reciting his "Saravah ... CD

Coralie Clement

Salle Des Pas Perdus
Capitol (UK), 2001. Used
Lovely French pop – with a stripped-down retro groove that's really delightful! Coralie's got a breathy vocal style that reminds us of a young Jane Birkin – and the backing on the set is in a small combo mode, with guitar, organ, bass, drums, and sax – grooving in a mode that's ... CD
Barclay/Universal (France), 1956. Used
Maybe a bit too romantic and emotive for our taste, but still pretty nice overall. Reissue of an original 10" LP – with backings by Walberg and Raymond Lefevre. Tracks include "Bambino (Guaglione)", "Fado", "Aime-Moi", "Flamenco Bleu", "Le ... CD

Vogue/Culture Factory (France), 1968. Used Gatefold
Mad mad stuff from French pop legend Jacques Dutronc! The record's filled with groovy tunes that mix together jangly guitar, baroque production, and Jacques' wonderful swinging voice – and it's the kind of 60s album that turned him into an overnight French pop icon. This is Dutronc at the ... CD
