Lost In A Dream

LP (Item 951205) Vocalion, 1940s — Condition: Sealed

(60s issue. Shrinkwrap has a hole in front. Cover has a cut corner.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Rosemary Clooney with Duke Ellington

Blue Rose
Columbia, 1956. Very Good
Fantastic stuff, and proof that Rosemary Clooney was always one heck of a great singer – with strengths in jazz that you didn't always hear in her pop work! As you'd guess from the cover, Duke Ellington's leading the group on the album – and most of the tracks here are older Ellington ... LP, Vinyl record album

Kenny Rankin

Family
Mercury, 1970. Very Good
Beautiful beautiful early work by Kenny Rankin – a unique blend of styles that has him working at a level that he barely matched again! The album picks off where Kenny's sublime Moon Dusters album left off – taking the folk rock style of the 60s, and filtering it through the hipper ... LP, Vinyl record album

Dorothy Shay

Park Avenue Hillbilly
Capitol, Early 50s. Very Good
Wonderful work from Dorothy Shay – a very unusual singer for her time, and in a backwards way, almost a force in mainstreaming country music in later years! As the title implies, Dorothy's a bit of a "Park Avenue Hillbilly" – in that she sings country themes, but in a style ... LP, Vinyl record album

Peggy Lee

Jump For Joy
Capitol, 1958. Very Good
A classic collaboration between Peggy Lee and Nelson Riddle – and a record that really set the tone for Lee's famous Capitol sides of the 60s! The groove here is very upbeat – as you might guess from the title – with a bouncing, almost syncopated approach that's definitely Riddle' ... LP, Vinyl record album
