Vamos Juntos – Toquinho Live At Bravas Club 86

LP (Item 948741) Polydor (Japan), 1986 — Condition: Near Mint-

Features Toquinho on guitar and vocals, with some great percussion from Papete, and a bit of sax from Sadao Watanabe!  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Japanese pressing, with obi!)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Antonio Carlos Jobim

Composer Of Desafinado Plays
Verve, 1963. Very Good+
Antonio Carlos Jobim's classic Verve session from 1963 – a tremendous record, done with a wonderful airy sound that became the trademark for bossa production in America – and which also had a great inspiration on the sound of mid 60s bossa in Brazil! Claus Ogerman arranged and conducts ... LP, Vinyl record album
Audio Fidelity, 1962. Very Good+
Early set of tight bossa grooves, recorded by Lalo Schifrin not too longer after he arrived in the states in the early 60's. The great Leo Wright's on alto and flute here, and his solos are warm and rich, and make the whole thing come together nicely – with lots of jazz, jazz, jazz! Lots of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Airto

Virgin Land
Salvation, 1974. Near Mint-
A great little fusion set from Airto – recorded in a mode that's a great bridge between his acoustic roots and some of his smoother albums in years to come! The sound has some key electric elements here – bits of bass, guitar, and keyboards – but there's still a strongly acoustic ... LP, Vinyl record album

Mike Falcao E Seu Conjunto (aka Walter Wanderley)

No Embalo Do Samba
Imperial (Brazil), 1966. Very Good-
Wonderful bossa and samba grooves – with a hip edge that reminds us a lot of Ed Lincoln's best records from the time – no surprise, since Falcao is actually Brazilian organist Walter Wanderley, working under another name! Wanderley, as Falcao, plays Hammond organ with a sparkly finish ... LP, Vinyl record album

Cyro Monteiro e Dilermando Pinheiro

Teleco Teco Opus No 1
Philips, Late 60s. Near Mint-
A wonderful album of lively sambas peformed by one of the greatest singers of the pre-bossa era! Cyro's in fine form in this live set from the 60s, and he's performing here with Dilermando Pinheiro in a choppy style that's recorded with a lot of soul, and some good echoey production. Watchin' You, Watchin' Me
Chi Sound/United Artists, 1976. Very Good+
A perfect example of the old adage that the funkier the band's name is, the less funky their music will be! Not that the group's really that bad or anything – they're just not the all-out party jam you'd expect from an ensemble with "ebony" and "funk" in their name. The ... LP, Vinyl record album

Lonnie Smith

Afro-desia
Groove Merchant, 1975. Very Good+ Gatefold
Excellent work by Lonnie Smith – a free-flowing album of long jazzy grooves that's kind of an extension of his Blue Note albums, touches with more of the electricity of his 70s playing! There's some killer rhythms on the album – courtesy of drummers Jamey Hudad and Ben Riley, and ... LP, Vinyl record album
