Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Horace Silver

Cape Verdean Blues
Blue Note, 1965. Used
A classic set from Horace Silver – one in which his quintet is expanded by some great guest work from trombonist JJ Johnson! Johnson's at the height of his 60s powers here – blowing with that lean, soulful style that always made any record sparkle – and although he's only on half ... CD

Dave Holland

Extensions
ECM, 1989. Used
Dave Holland's sounding great on this late 80s set – a straighter effort than his early days, but in a really wonderful way overall! The group's got a lot of soulful power – thanks to alto from Steve Coleman, drums from Marvin Smitty Smith, and guitar from Kevin Eubanks – all ... CD

D Train

Best Of D-Train
Prelude/Unidisc (Canada), 1986. Used
Nice compilation of tracks by James "D Train" Williams – one of the most soulful artists to arise from the early 80s New York club scene of labels. The tracks are all produced by Hubert Eaves, and they feature a lot of nice keyboard work – presumably from Eaves as well. ... CD
Anti, 2006. Used
Neko Case at her best, which is pretty much where she's been for the majority of her solo career – so it's saying something to mention that this might be her finest record! There's an artful, but still introspective poetic edge to her songwriting that really came out in fullest form for the ... CD

James Brown

Hot Pants
Polygram, 1971. Used
James Brown really opens up on this early 70s classic – really showing the world the amazing groove he was crafting with his band – who were let loose to jam in the studio, spinning out some really long grooves – which were then cut down to make this sweet little record! The ... CD
