White On White & Other Hits Of 1964

LP (Item 944187) Reprise, 1964 — Condition: Near Mint-

(Tri-color stereo pressing. Cover has a cutout grommet.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Nelson Riddle

Sing A Song With Riddle
Capitol, Late 50s. Very Good Gatefold
Karaoke old school style. Kind of like a Jamie Aebersold album, with a full book of music and lyrics, so that you can play or sing along to Nelson Riddle's orchestrations. Sea Of Dreams
Capitol, Mid 50s. Very Good
Some of Riddle's dreamiest work – a pillow-soft set of lush backings, with lots of swirling strings to create the "sea of dreams" in the title! The cover alone is worth the price of the record (and we hardly ever say that!) – as it features a nude woman, floating under water, ... LP, Vinyl record album

San Sebastian Strings/Rod McKuen/Anita Kerr

For Lovers
Reprise, 1969. Near Mint-
An amazing document of adult love – as important to the easy generation as Barry White's work was to the soul crowd – and the kind of record that makes you willing to throw away all your prejudices about Rod McKuen! The set's got a simple, snakey sort of approach – one that uses ... LP, Vinyl record album

Dick Hyman

Mirrors
Command, Late 60s. Near Mint- Gatefold
Pre-moog – but still very nice, and an album of oddly-arranged tracks that features Hyman on both organ and piano! The format's a straight trio, but the arrangements open the tracks up more than you expect – and take the songs past their simple cover versions. Includes a groovy ... LP, Vinyl record album

Arthur Lyman

Love For Sale
Hi Fi, 1963. Sealed
A record that boasts a strange image of Arthur Lyman on the front – one that almost makes him look a bit thuggish, despite the affection promised in the title! (A bit of rough trade, perhaps?) The tunes themselves are a love-centered batch of exotic instrumentals – most with "love ... LP, Vinyl record album
