Sound Odyssey II

LP (Item 943801) Realistic, Mid 70s — Condition: Very Good-

Big band and jazzy – with cuts that include "Star Wars", "The Way We Were", "Shaft", "Rocky", "Theme from 2001", "SWAT", and more. Moe Koffman plays alto and flute!  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Clear red vinyl Direct-To-Disc pressing. Cover has some wear at the opening.)

Very Good - (minus)

  • Vinyl may be dirty, and can lack a fair amount of luster.
  • Vinyl can have a number of marks, either in clusters or smaller amounts, but deeper.
  • This is the kind of record that you'd buy to play, but not because it looked that great. Still, the flaws should be mostly cosmetic, with nothing too deep that would ruin the overall record.
  • Examples include a record that has been kept for a while in a cover without the paper sleeve, or heavily played by a previous owner and has some marks across the surface. The record should play okay, though probably with surface noise.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Peter King Quartet

Focus – KPM 1307
KPM (UK), 1983. Near Mint-
More of a straight jazz album than usual for the KPM sound library – an excellent set featuring British alto player Peter King – with John Horler on piano, Dave Green on bass, and Spike Wells on drums! LP, Vinyl record album
Orion, Early 80s. Very Good
Later work from the Gus Giordano dance studios – a session that's not as funky as some of their earlier work, but still mostly original material played by a group of local Chicago studio musicians! The feel here is mostly an early 80s approach to jazz funk – smooth at times, with a ... LP, Vinyl record album

All That Jazz – KPM 1014
KPM (UK), 1967. Near Mint-
A straight jazz album recorded for the KPM sound library – but a pretty groovy one at that! All the work here is the product of David Lee and his un-named Group Six Players – a cool combo who feature piano, trumpet, guitar, and a bit of flute – all over some really wonderful ... Grover Washington Jr

Feels So Good
Kudu, 1975. Very Good+
An incredible batch of electric funk from Grover Washington Jr – easily one of his best albums ever! The record really picks up from the sweet CTI sound of the 70s – taking Bob James arrangements with a lot of space and electric keyboards, and letting Groover blow some wonderfully ... Lonnie Smith

Afro-desia
Groove Merchant, 1975. Very Good+ Gatefold
Excellent work by Lonnie Smith – a free-flowing album of long jazzy grooves that's kind of an extension of his Blue Note albums, touches with more of the electricity of his 70s playing! There's some killer rhythms on the album – courtesy of drummers Jamey Hudad and Ben Riley, and ... LP, Vinyl record album
