Super Hits

LP (Item 943255) Tamla (UK), Mid 60s — Condition: Near Mint-

A sweet collection of Motown recordings by the Isley Brothers – 16 tracks in all, including "It's Out Of The Question", "Behind A Painted Smile", "That's The Way Love Is", "Little Miss Sweetness", "Got To Have You Back", "Tell Me It's Just A Rumor Baby", "Just Ain't Enough", "I Guess I'll Always Love You", and their classic "This Old Heart Of Mine".  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(In the die-cut cover, with heavy inner sleeve!)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Isley Brothers

Winner Takes All
T Neck, 1979. Sealed 2LP Gatefold
A key album in the Isley Brothers "extended funk" mode of the 70s – a style in which the group approached nearly every tune by adding in a "part 2" in order to stretch out the groove! The style here is bass-heavy funk, but less of the sort that other groups were using at ... LP, Vinyl record album

Harvest For The World
T Neck, 1976. Sealed
Fantastic Isleys from the mid-70s! The record has the group dropping their heavy funk style (which was sounding a bit tired by this point), and picking up a strident soul groove that buoyed their tracks with a spiritual sound that reminds us of some of the best moments from the Brother Brother ... Smooth mellow grooves, in the style that Eddie pioneered, and which he still did better than most. Eddie Kendricks

Hit Man
Tamla, 1975. Very Good
Eddie certainly was the "hit man" on this one – a tight album of hard stepping soul tracks, mostly cut in Eddie's famous "boogie" mode of the mid 70s! The cuts mix wonderful soul vocals with some tight jazzy instrumentation – laid down by players like Wah Wah Ragin, ... LP, Vinyl record album
Tamla, 1979. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
Very high concept work from Stevie Wonder! The record is, in fact, about the "secret life of plants" – partially used as a soundtrack for a film of the same name, but also acting as kind of a storybook in itself!
