One of those singles that lets you know that they DO still make 'em like they used to – at least if you're talking about the kind of moody harmony soul singles that we love so much from the start of the 70s – from the slightly fragile vocals right down to the slow funk of the drums! Those drums are equally great on the flipside – where the Cold Diamond & Mink combo really get to show their stuff!  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(White label test pressing. Label has artist name written in pen.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Have A Happy Day/Love Me Tender
Polydor, 1977. Near Mint-
An overlooked mellow soul cut from James – and very nice! "Have A Happy Day" is a great little track written by Charle Sherrell, who we think is singing backup vocals on the cut – and the track's got a sound that's a bit smooth, but which builds in a rougher way, thanks to ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Funky DJ/Juke Box
Stone, 1976. Near Mint-
A very cool little single done by John Fred in the years after his famous Playboy Band pop – 2 tracks done in a slow-stepping style that's a lot like Miami funk of the 70s, but recorded in Fred's usual territory of Louisiana! "Funky DJ" is a hard clavinet number that features ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
