❔

The sweet soul vocals of Gerald McCauley sound wonderful here – delivered with this slow, heartbreaking pace that really fits the mellow funk laid down by Cold Diamond & Mink – almost making the whole thing feel like a classic New Jersey/Philly gem from back in the day!  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Test pressing, including one-sheet.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Timmion (Finland), 2017. Near Mint-
A hard-hitting romper from trumpeter Jukka Eskola – a tune that has the trumpeter working with the well-named Soul Trio – in a groove that feels like some lost jukebox jazz single from the 60s, with the trumpet popping nicely alongside a soaring Hammond! Thee Baby Cuffs & Cold Diamond & Mink

My My My Baby (vocal, inst)
Timmion (Finland), 2018. Near Mint-
Thee Baby Cuffs have a mighty strange name, but they work together as a trio with a sweet soul feel – getting this slow funk backing from Cold Diamond & Mink – who've already shown us their mighty talents for getting a 70s indie soul groove just right! There's a nice crispy edge ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Brunswick, Late 60s. Near Mint-
One of the Young-Holt group's greatest tracks! "Wack Wack" is a stunning little jazzy groover – heavy left hand on the piano, with acoustic bass bouncing along on the groove, all very catchy, and with shouted vocals over the top! Great stuff – and proof that the guys were on ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

"In The Pocket" is another one of King Curtis' great non-LP tracks. It's got a nice loping funky groove, and very raw sax playing that's unlike some of the sweeter stuff you'll hear on his LPs! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Harlem River Drive

Need You/Overtime
Arista, 1975. Very Good+
Hmmm....we're not sure if this is the same Harlem River Drive that recorded with Eddie Palmieri, but we've got to assume that they are, as we can't imagine 2 bands using the same name at the same time, and both apparently from New York. "Need You" has also got a sound that's kind of a ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Funky DJ/Juke Box
Stone, 1976. Near Mint-
A very cool little single done by John Fred in the years after his famous Playboy Band pop – 2 tracks done in a slow-stepping style that's a lot like Miami funk of the 70s, but recorded in Fred's usual territory of Louisiana!
