Flamenco Candido

LP (Item 940571) Somerset, Late 50s — Condition: Very Good

(Cover has a half split top seam and split bottom seam.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Hugh Masekela

I Am Not Afraid
Blue Thumb/Chisa, 1974. Very Good+
An excellent little record from Hugh Masekela – cut right during that perfect time when he was mixing soul, funk, and just the right amount of jazz to keep things real! The record features some nice electric piano from Joe Sample, and the best cuts have a choppy funky groove. Some cuts have ... LP, Vinyl record album

Astor Piazzolla

Histoire Du Tango
Polydor (France), 1973. Near Mint- 2LP
An unusual double-length set from this great Argentine modernist – not his own compositions, but works from the history of tango – but all delivered with the kind of edge that Astor was bringing to his own music in the 70s! LP, Vinyl record album

Now Again, 1976. Near Mint- 2LP
Some of the heaviest work to come from the African scene of the 70s – the initial offering of the Ngozi Family – a group who clearly take strong inspiration from the Cream years of the UK scene, but who also come across with a grittier, punkier vibe overall – thanks to lean, ... Prince Onago & Princess Muana with Chick Foster

Roots Of Rhythm
Jubilee, Late 50s. Very Good
A strange and beautiful session of tracks that mix african percussion with jazzy rhythms, and slight touches of exotica. The album features the group of Chick Foster, a highly percussive combo with a lineup that includes bass, drums, percussion, and flute. Prince Onago plays conga with the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Olatunji

Drums Of Passion
Columbia, 1960. Very Good
A classic session of pounding percussion – quite possibly the most successful entry into this earthy genre that hit the recording scene at the end of the 50s! Soundway (UK), 2017. Sealed 2LP Gatefold
One of those records that definitely lives up to its cover – as it's not only a great mish-mash of styles, it's also got some 80s instrumental currents that might come as a surprise if you know other records on the Soundway label! The work recasts older elements of Ugandan music with old ... LP, Vinyl record album

Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes

Black & Blue
Philadelphia International, 1973. Very Good Gatefold
Classic Philly soul from Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes – a killer batch of studio tracks, despite the live image of the group on the cover! Hi Fi, 1958. Sealed
Classic exotica from Arthur Lyman – a set that really shows the lessons he learned from Martin Denny – and his willingness to take the genre into some strong new directions!
