CD

✈
Southwestern dust punk from the Meat Puppets – and a standout moment from their most prolific and consistently rewarding periods! We still don't know if they did it on purpose or not, but at this point, The Meat Puppets were kind of a post-punk answer to ZZ Top – and we mean that as a compliment to both bands! There's a more polished sound than on their more shambling earlier SST records, and an undeniable boogie sound on a lot of it that's completely irresistible. That said, this is The Meat Puppets, so there's plenty of gritty howled vocals and unhinged moments. Includes "Paradise", "Look At The Rain", "Sexy Music", "Bad Love", "Crazy", "Fruit", "Automatic Mojo", "I Can't Be Counted On" and more.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Frank Zappa

Waka/Jawaka
Ryko, 1972. Used
Wonderful stuff from Frank Zappa – a set that still has all the freak-out feel of the early years, yet which also shows a real maturation in his arrangement styles as well! The instrumentation is fantastic – not just great guitar from Frank, but heavy keyboards from George Duke, slide ... CD

Weasels Ripped My Flesh
Ryko, 1970. Used

Columbia/Ryko, 1983. Used
One of those rock records that shouldn't have worked – Elvis ditched the pounding pop of his earlier post punk years for this one, replacing it with 80s synthesizer soul production and hired back up singers – but it works, thanks to Costello's pen being nearly as sharp as it ever was. ... CD

Ryko, 1980. Used
An album with a very mod-looking cover – and a set that's also overflowing with lots of mod-styled tracks to match – a cool current of soul from the 60s, but still handled with the sharper 70s vibe of young Attractions! Production is by Nick Lowe – and although The Jam were also ... CD

David Bowie back in costume at the end of the 70s – but informed enough from his Berlin trilogy that he's coming at things quite differently here! The album's a great summation of the sounds on Low, Heroes, and Lodger – taken almost back to some Ziggy Stardust and Space Oddity ... CD

Trust (with bonus tracks)
Demon/Ryko, 1981. Used
Essential old school Elvis Costello from the peak years of the Attractions era! Trust is one of the earliest albums in which Costello started to shake the punkish roots off just a bit, adding a bit more of his sock soul influences into his patented power pop. Tracks include "Clubland", ... CD
