This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap.
We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't
look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time,
we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape —
which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be
torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played,
the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
A rare electric outing from legendary altoist Jackie McLean – and one that comes off surprisingly well, given that the move was quite a shift for the reedman! The album's got a spiritual current that McLean developed in some of his earlier 70s material – like his gems for the ... LP, Vinyl record album
A hard and heavy Hammond jazz classic – and one of Jimmy McGriff's greatest recordings of the 60s! The title track's a new rendition of Ray Charles' famous tune "I've Got A Woman" – recorded here in a rolling, vamping groove that must have blown the woofer out of countless ... The early work of Austrian pianist Eugene Cicero must have been incredibly successful for the MPS/Saba label – as they cut more than a few albums that had him in this format, playing jazzy changes based on classical material by a specific composer! This set, like the others, features Cicero ... LP, Vinyl record album
A nice little set that combines some of Eddie's rare work for King from the mid 50s! Eddie's tenor is in wonderful form here, working with a real sense of economy on the album's short tracks – a sense that you don't always get in some of his more stretched-out sets for Prestige. Backing on ... LP, Vinyl record album
An excellent bit of soulful post-Coltrane jazz! The group is a sextet led by Italian trumpeter Sergio Fanni – and it features piano and electric piano by Sante Palumbo, plus tenor, drums, electric bass, and percussion. In a way, the album reminds us a lot of early 70s work by American ... LP, Vinyl record album
Genius, pure genius! This album's possibly the most perfectly realized set from the team of Bobby Hutcherson on vibes and Harold Land on reeds – a pair who work here with an electric bass player and a bit of electric piano (the latter from Joe Sample) – hitting territory that's ... LP, Vinyl record album
A sublime bit of Miles Davis electric funk – one of the best-remembered electric sets from the 70s, and for good reason too! The tracks are long, the jams are hard, and the whole thing has a lot more funk than some of the noise you'd get on other Miles albums of the time – thanks to ... LP, Vinyl record album
The only album ever by The Barrino Brothers – a stellar early 70s harmony group, and one who could sing with the best of the east coast scene of the time! The whole set's got a feel that's very much in the best mode of groups like The Modulations, Soul Generation, and even The O'Jays – ... LP, Vinyl record album
Classic funky disco from Chris Hills and the Players Association of tight jazzy performers – and what an incredible group of players! The Players Association includes Leon Pendarvis, Wilbur Bascomb, Mtume, Mike Mandel, David Sanborn, Michael Brecker and Jon Faddis – and the overall ... LP, Vinyl record album
