...

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Gemini Jazz (Ron Trent)

Tantra/Hard & Soft
Music & Power, 2018. Near Mint-
A sultry couple of club groovers from Ron Trent's Gemini Jazz project! "Tantra" has a prominent danceable beat and some nice and jazzy hand percussion under soul jazz-inspired keys & piano and purely atmospheric vocal. "Hard & Soft" is a little bit leaner and spacier, ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Kenny Dope's touch is all over this tasty little single – a good blend of house rhythms and Latin influences, served up with a very soulful finish! Kenny makes the thing percolate nicely, but never too over the top – sometimes with slightly acidish electronics that slip in the mix ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Schema (Italy), 2006. Near Mint- (pic cover)
Nothing invisible here – because the single's a great one in the recent Schema mode – served up with lots of jazzy touches by the duo of Paolo Fedreghini and Marco Bianchi! Another stunner from Malena Perez – the lovely Latin-tinged diva who's ready to take the dancefloor by storm! "Praise The Day" is served up here with plenty of production touches from Osunlade – so much so that the track feels like some of the best on his own Yoruba label, ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Let's Dance, 1984. Near Mint-
The kind of pure rhythm record that often made some of the early Chicago house releases almost seem like experimental electronics! Libra (Tony Bowie & Jimi Polo)

I Like It (club, radio, dub, celebrities like it)
Chicago Connection, 1986. Very Good (pic cover)
A nice soulful bit of Chicago house – with very heavy drums, and great vocals by Jimi Polo! The cut's got a nice hook, and has that crossover sound that got house played more than usual on the Chicago soul stations. All mixes are good, except for the horrible "celebrities like it" ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
