We've Got The Power/Evil

12-inch (Item 936545) Groove Line Records (UK), 1980 — Condition: Near Mint-
(pic cover)

Two dancefloor stormers from the Pointer Sisters – both presented here on a heavy, half-speed mastered single! "We've Got The Power" is upbeat and soaring – not really a club cut overall, but with a groove that certainly fits the mood – while the trio deliver the kind of hook-heavy vocals that always made them great! "Evil" is a tune with these great jazzy changes – funky, but sophisticated too – almost giving the girls a sort of Labelle setup on the rhythm!  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Nothing fancy, but a great import 12" single that features three of Rufus' best tracks! "Stop On By" is the best to have here – as it's a perpetually favorite groover that sounds great as a single! 12-inch, Vinyl record

A wonderful crossover club classic! The track's certainly got enough disco to earn its name – but it's also got these cool dark keyboards, jerking along in a Danceteria style that gives the track a very different twist! 12-inch, Vinyl record
Factory, Early 80s. Near Mint-
One of our favorite Factory Records club tracks – a percolated number that was equal parts New York and Manchester! The electro beats and slight Latin groove have a wonderful crossover downtown sound – as does the flatted sax bit that comes along with the hook – but the vocals ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

A great recent cut (or at least more recent than their classic 60s and early 70s tracks) by The Temptations!
