Brown Acid – Fourth Trip – Heavy Rock From The Underground Comedown

LP (Item 934820) Riding Easy, 1970s — Condition: Near Mint-

(Clear vinyl pressing.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Friend & Lover

Reach Out Of The Darkness
Verve/Forecast, 1967. Very Good+
One hit wonders – but oh what a hit! Friend & Lover's "Reach Out Of The Darkness" is a really unique little tune that brings together folksy vocals and funky rhythms – a solid jammer that brushed off the cobwebs of the aging folk scene of the 60s, and sprung into the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Van Dyke Parks

Song Cycle
Warner, 1968. Near Mint-
Van Dyke Parks' masterpiece – and one of the hippest records to come out of LA in the 60s! The album's a strangely anachronistic one – steeped in the kind of past-days scoring found on early records by Harpers Bizarre and Randy Newman (both of which Parks had a hand in!), wrapped ... Ten Wheel Drive with Genya Ravan

Brief Replies
Polydor, Early 70s. Very Good+ Gatefold
Hard-rockin bluesey funky work from Genya and crew – with lots of great guitar bits ripping around, and some surprisingly strong funky undercurrents working at the bottom of the set! Think Betty Davis gone a bit more rock, and you've got a very good idea of the sound of this one – but ... LP, Vinyl record album
Reprise, 1969. Near Mint- Gatefold
A true masterpiece of late 60s pop – music originally recorded for a TV special in 1969 – and one of the Kinks' greatest albums ever! The semi-concept album traces the woes, worries, and hopes of a British family, as one half is on the verge of emigration to Australia. The work comes ... LP, Vinyl record album

Spanky & Our Gang

Like To Get To Know You
Mercury, 1968. Very Good- Gatefold
Wild! If you don't know them, Spanky & Our Gang were one of the stranger pop groups of the late 60s – and they had a style that mixed sweet vocal stylings with bubble gum pop with groovy arrangements with a vague sense of nostalgia. This tiny little pop masterpiece was produced and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Biff Rose

Children Of Light
Tetragrammaton, 1968. Very Good+
Tremendous work from Biff Rose – a near-lost singer-songwriter from the late 60s, barely remembered as the author of "Fill Your Heart" from David Bowie's Hunky Dory album – but an incredible talent that we'd rank right up there with Van Dyke Parks or early Randy Newman for ... Epic, 1969. Very Good+
The second album from Spirit – and a standout powerhouse of late 60s rock! The combo have a great way of hitting a groove without losing their cool – as heard on the classic "I Got A Line On You", which leads off the set – and unlike most of their contemporaries, who ... LP, Vinyl record album

Flying Burrito Brothers

Burrito Deluxe
A&M, 1970. Near Mint-
Benchmark cosmic American music from The Flying Burrito Brothers! Burrito Deluxe is more of a group effort from the Burritos – Gram Parsons is purported to have held the reins on the first record – a slightly less trippy album but no less heart-tuggingly strong. The record also has ... LP, Vinyl record album

Inside Is Love
Fabulous/TK, 1979. Very Good+
A great moment in the career of the mighty Leon Ware – a set recorded after his famous 70s work for Motown, and before his return to fame at Elektra – but still with a super-tight quality that shows that Leon was always great, no matter what the setting! Leon's warm, mellow, and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Inflated Tear
Atlantic, 1968. Near Mint-
A landmark album from Roland Kirk – one of his key 60s sides for Atlantic records, and an amazing blend of soul jazz, hardbop, and freer thinking styles!
