Wish You Were Here Buddy

LP (Item 934514) Dot, 1966 — Condition: Near Mint-

(Stereo pressing with deep groove.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Bugsy Maugh

Inside Bugsy
Dot, 1969. Near Mint-
A compelling set from Bugsy Maugh – a singer who started out in the band of Paul Butterfield, but who emerges here as a vocalist with a really great range, and a mix of jazz, soul, and rootsy elements – almost a Blood Sweat & Tears sort of vibe, but more personal overall! Beach Boys

Surfin' Safari
Capitol, 1962. Sealed
The album that first launched the Beach Boys on an unsuspecting 60s scene – and a record that really raised the bar for rock and roll at Capitol Records! Although based around their early "Surfin Safari" hit, the album already shows that the group's got way more to offer than ... LP, Vinyl record album

Youngbloods

Ride The Wind
Warner/Raccoon, 1971. Near Mint-
Beautiful work from the Youngbloods – a mixture of folk rock and jazzy phrasing, very much in the same spirit of Tim Hardin or Tim Buckley, with a depth and complexity that's quite surprising, and which has held up surprisingly well over the years – almost more appealing now than when ... Sire, 1978. Near Mint-
Early genius from the Talking Heads – a set that's got a much sparer sound than most of their later work, and a surprisingly groovy feel overall! The starkness of the group's debut is still very much in place – lots of tight interplay between bass and guitar – but the rhythms are ... LP, Vinyl record album

Dave Mason & Cass Elliot
Blue Thumb, 1971. Sealed Gatefold
A really nice album from Dave Mason & Mama Cass – one that has Dave's vocals mostly in the lead, but which also brings him much closer in style to Mama's sweet and dreamy pop mode – a lovely little psychedelic folk pop record with soulful touches! The backing is mostly by a small ... LP, Vinyl record album

Heaven 17

How Men Are
Arista/Virgin, 1984. Very Good+
The last moment of greatness from Heaven 17 – and a set that continues the trend towards more soulful expression the group began with their previous record! This time around, the production is warmly touched with many soul-based elements that nicely offset the colder electro pop of their ... LP, Vinyl record album

Heaven 17

Luxury Gap
BEF/Virgin (UK), 1983. Very Good
Heaven 17 soften up their politics a bit with this second album (yet still address class inequality issues with the title!) – but they also manage to replace their Marxist agenda with some groovier, more soul-based tunes – just the kind of material that helped push them out of import ... Decca, 1965. Near Mint-
The first full-length set from The Who – a blistering batch of rough-edged tunes that run the gamut from bluesy soul to sweeter pop to guitar-driven grinders that show an incredible amount of power – even at this early point! The album's somewhat all over the map, but in a good way ... LP, Vinyl record album
RCA, 1969. Sealed
A rich blend of breezy orchestrations and an early rock opera narrative from Keith – and ambitious set of groovy psychedelic pop songcraft that's light years away from his earlier hit – and an underappreciated gem that more or less capped off his young career! The record has some ... LP, Vinyl record album

Grape Jam
Columbia, 1968. Very Good
Moby Grape's self-conscious, but hardly less groovy late 60s excursion into loose, free form and largely instrumental psychedelia – the sweet and therefore appropriately titled Grape Jam!
