Whole Food

LP (Item 933498) Mello Music Group, 2016 — Condition: Sealed

Nice joint effort from a couple of diverse figures – Texas producer Gensu Dean and Detroit producer/MC Denmark Vessey! Denmark is on the vocals here and Gensu is on the beats, with just a couple guest appearances, and pretty solid sound throughout! Strong stuff for sure. Includes "The Meek", "Whole Food", "Saturday", "Black Love" feat 7even Thirty & Iman Omari, "Gun Emoji (Bang)", "Broken Petal", "Biscuits & Gravy", "Ode To XX Chromosome", "Racka Lamb" and more.  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Purple vinyl pressing.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Ice Cube

Lethal Injection
Priority, 1993. Very Good
A sharp, angry salvo from Ice Cube! Cube's early 90s solo style was firmly established at this point, so Lethal Injection doesn't have the acknowledged classic status of his previous couple albums, but he's still close to his prime that it's well worth your dollar! As you'd guess from the title, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Bobby Hutcherson

San Francisco
Blue Note, 1971. Very Good+
Genius, pure genius! This album's possibly the most perfectly realized set from the team of Bobby Hutcherson on vibes and Harold Land on reeds – a pair who work here with an electric bass player and a bit of electric piano (the latter from Joe Sample) – hitting territory that's ... Isaac Hayes

Black Moses
Enterprise, 1971. Very Good 2LP Gatefold
Baroquely beautiful work from the Stax soul master – one of Isaac Hayes' heaviest albums of the 70s – and a record so massive, they needed 2LPs to contain the whole thing! The record's a culmination of the rich, full style of soulful arranging that Hayes had pioneered in his early solo ... LP, Vinyl record album

Miles Davis

On The Corner
Columbia, 1972. Very Good Gatefold
A sublime bit of Miles Davis electric funk – one of the best-remembered electric sets from the 70s, and for good reason too! The tracks are long, the jams are hard, and the whole thing has a lot more funk than some of the noise you'd get on other Miles albums of the time – thanks to ... LP, Vinyl record album

Nice one! This is one of Dick Hyman's most fantastic LPs, and the one that includes some of his best moogy playing. With the very funky club cut "Give It Up Or Turn It Loose", plus "Both Sides Now", "Kolumbo", "Time Is Tight", and "Green Onions". LP, Vinyl record album

Miles Davis

Water Babies
Columbia, 1967. Very Good+
A much different album than you might expect from the cover – hardly the funky 70s set implied by the Big Fun-styled cover – and instead a lost slice of work from his groundbreaking late 60s years! The set was recorded in 1967, but unissued until Miles late 70s time away from the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Kool & The Gang

Love & Understanding
Dee-Lite, 1976. Very Good Gatefold
Amazing work from Kool & The Gang – from a period when they were pushing past their tight early funky sound, into a super-dope mix of electronics and spacey jamming that is still pretty darn revolutionary today! Although you might think the album would be a bit disco by the date, it's ... LP, Vinyl record album
