DeBarges

CD (Item 931855) Motown (Japan), 1981 — Condition: Used
$18.99 ...

CD

The wonderful first album from DeBarges – a surprisingly great batch of harmony soul that really updates the "family" sound of 70s groups like The Sylvers and Five Stairsteps – and helps it find a whole new place in the 80s! The arrangements are wonderfully old school – often mellow in a way that gives the harmonies plenty of space to shine – without any too-poppy elements that you might expect! And honestly, the whole thing has a relaxed, easygoing vibe that maybe makes it one of the best Motown moments from the time – and certainly one of the greatest Motown debuts of the decade. Titles include "Hesitated", "What's Your Name", "Queen Of My Heart", "You're So Gentle So Kind", and "Strange Romance".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Out of print, includes obi.)

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Diana
Motown, 1980. Used
A record so big they dropped the "Ross" from Diana's name – just to show how large the lady was living at the end of the 70s! The album was a key set in the solo years of Diana's career – a back to basics dancefloor effort done with impeccable production by Bernard Edwards ... CD

Smokey Robinson

Solo Anthology
Motown, 1970s/1980s. Used 2 CDs
Sweet solo work from Smokey Robinson – some of our favorite Motown recordings of the 70s! Although Smokey first kicked off his successful career with The Miracles, he really made a strong move when he broke with the group during the early 70s, and emerged on his own to cut some totally great ... Mary Jane Girls

Mary Jane Girls
Motown, 1983. Used
The great first album from The Mary Jane Girls – easily their best, and an 80s pop soul delight all the way through! Rick James is firmly at the helm of the quartet for this release – and although the sound has elements of James' own crossover funk of the time, there's also an approach ... CD

Casablanca, 1976. Used
An oft-overlooked gem from Parliament – released during the year 1976, and sometimes hidden between monster LPs like Funkentelechy and Mothership Connection – but every bit as great as those two classics! The album's got that tightened-up P-Funk sound that was working so perfectly at ... CD
