We Are The Imperials

CD (Item 926430) Collectables, 1959 — Condition: Used
$7.99 ...

CD

Incredible work from one of the greatest groups on the east coast scene at the end of the 50s – a wonderful harmony combo, but one with a hell of a lead singer too! Anthony's voice is hardly "little" here – as he belts it out with this raw soul power that's years ahead of its time – really bold on the upbeat tracks, heartbreaking on the ballads, but still able to slide back and harmonize with the Imperials at all the right moments. The album's one of the best examples of the group's genius at its height – a style that would later go onto become such a big influence on 70s groups like The Delfonics or The Stylistics – and titles include "Tears On My Pillow", "So Much", "The Diary", "Oh Yeah", "Wishful Thinking", "Two People In the World", and "What Did I Do".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Excellent harmony soul – and a nicely priced reissue of some of The Manhattans' early work for the Carnival label! This is about as good as it gets for 60s harmony soul – as the group manages to blend rough vocals into an airtight harmony sound that's impeccable on just about every cut. ... CD
