Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Dreamies (Bill Holt)

Dreamies
Gear Fab, 1974. Used
A legendary album from start to finish – and easily one of the most compelling experimental sets from the 70s! Call it a "auralgraphic entertainment", or "an incredible mental experience" – both claims listed on the title – and you wouldn't even be getting ... CD

Nick Drake

Bryter Layter
Island, 1970. Used
The second album from the legendary Nick Drake – one of those records we could never ever live without – and a true piece of genius that's been turning on generations of listeners since Nick first recorded it back at the start of the 70s! The format is folksy, but the execution is ... CD
Reprise, 1970. Used
Pre-Muswell Hillbillies, but taking a turn towards the folksier and rootsier sound that they used in their first few albums of the 70s. The strength here is that the band is still working off the lean style forged on Village Green Preservation Society – and most of the cuts have a great ... CD

Lewis

L'Amour
Light In The Attic, 1983. Used Gatefold
A strangely beautiful rarity from the early 80s, by a singer-songwriter billed only as Lewis – a mystery man who looks like a shirtless soap opera actor – but delivers one of the coolest pieces of period LA esoterica we've heard in a long, long time! The sound is tough to describe, but ... CD

Bill Perkins & Richie Kamuca

Tenors Head On
Pacific Jazz, 1956. Used
A killer date from two of the hippest tenors of the west coast scene in the 50s – Bill Perkins and Richie Kamuca – both musicians who worked in the cool school, but could also come across with plenty of soul! The album's got both tenors working head on – hitting counterpoint ... CD
Columbia, Mid 70s/1981. Used
Bill Withers' second "best of" collection for Columbia – and like the other one, this set features tracks from his earlier years at Sussex, plus some numbers cut for Columbia. Great stuff throughout – from the more recent smooth mellow soul of "Just The Two Of Us" ... CD

Fugees

Score
Columbia, 1996. Used
16 tracks in all, including "How Many MC's", "Ready Or Not", "Killing Me Softly" (Lauryn Hill's amazing version of the Roberta Flack classic), "Fu-Gee-La", and "No Woman, No Cry". CD

Miles Davis

Milestones
Sony, 1958. Used
One of our 50s favorites by Miles Davis – and a record that offers the same twin-sax sound as his classic Kind Of Blue – with both John Coltrane and Cannonball Adderley working alongside Miles in the group! Rhythm here is by the Prestige-era trio of Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers ... CD
