Billy Boy

LP (Item 925723) Paddle Wheel (Japan), 1986 — Condition: Near Mint-

An unusual Japanese-only set from pianist David Matthews – with Michael Moore on bass and Dave Weckl on drums!  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Includes insert.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Capitol, Mid 60s. Near Mint-
Moody mid-60's set in which Kenton has Pete Rugolo re-arrange some of his classics, then set them to lyrics written by Milt Raskin, which are then sung by a wispy chorus. Mood music, but with an edge, and nice modernist Kenton overtones. Titles inlcude "Flame", "Moonlove", ... LP, Vinyl record album

Miles Davis

Nefertiti
Columbia, 1967. Near Mint-
Dark genius from the always-amazing Miles Davis Quintet of the 60s – a set that's a bit more subtle than some of the group's other efforts, but no less powerful – and virtually a blueprint for countless changes to come in jazz during the next few decades! The interplay of Davis' ... LP, Vinyl record album
Argo, 1960. Near Mint-
Despite the fact that the title's "Introducing Roland Kirk", it's not actually Kirk's first album – but it is a heck of a smoker with a very unusual sound! Pat Metheny

First Circle
ECM, 1984. Near Mint-
Arguably the last great album to come from the classic Pat Metheny collaboration with Lyle Mays – a record that's tightened up considerably from some of the group's earlier efforts, but which gives as its reward some wonderfully compelling tunes! Pat's still very much influenced here by a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Miroslav Vitous

Martin Denny

Exotica Vol 3
Liberty, 1959. Near Mint-
Sublime late 50s work from Martin Denny – his third album under the Exotica banner, and almost a deeper and weirder album than the other two!
