Disco Club

LP (Item 923149) RCA (France), 1978 — Condition: Near Mint-
The debut record from Black Devil Disco Club – a legendary French group who mixed spacey keyboards and electronics with warmly clubby grooves! The key force here is Bernard Fevre – who handles all the electric touches, and does a great way of warming things up from some of the colder modes that were coming out of other Euro scenes at the time, particularly Germany – as there's a stripped-down feel to the tracks that makes them feel more organic and live than work coming out of a more process studio system! There's a fair bit of conga work at times too, which makes a nice balance with the keyboards and electronics – on titles that inlcude "Follow Me", "We Never Fly Away Again", "H Friend", "Timing Forget The Timing", "One To Choose", and "No Regrets".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Diana Ross

Ross (RCA)
RCA, 1983. Near Mint-
One of the most well-crafted Diana Ross records of the 80s – thanks to heavy production work from Gary Katz, who's best known for his classic run with Steely Dan! Crown Heights Affair

Crown Heights Affair
RCA, 1974. Near Mint-
Their first LP, and one that we like way better than anything else they ever did. The record's got a great bunch of hard funky cuts done at a fast tempo – without the throwaway disco sound of some of their other albums, and lots of sax and keyboards in the lead. A bit like early Bohannon at ... LP, Vinyl record album

Silk Electric

Diana Ross really finds a way to remake her groove here – a sweet new sound that fits her revamped look in the Andy Warhol image on the cover! Avco, 1974. Very Good
Mid-period Stylistics, recorded after their association with Thom Bell and Linda Creed, and during the time that the group was handled by Hugo & Luigi.
